Alright with the new rule likely to be accepted to the NFHS stating that a flyer can do double braced forward and backward flips I want to be able to teach my athletes how to properly do this. I have seen many done and participated in many forward and backwards rotations. However I have never taught one. I have seen them taught but I just want some basic information that needs to be given to the athletes to minimize injury and to maximize the skill.

Thank you for your help.

My advice- make sure the flyer treats it like a standard back tuck to cradle. She needs to keep her head in and make sure she over rotates to perfect cradle position. Bases should throw straight up and the sides have to lift the flyer up and follow her as she flips. Make sure that the flip doesn't stall at the top! That's where it gets dangerous
