Am I aloud to have my sprained thumb taped for a cheer competition

Ok so I’m a cheerleader and I sprained my thumb I have been getting it taped by my athletic trainer at school for practices and basketball games but I can’t find anything about competitions a. I aloud to hate it taped for a competition or will we get a deduction for it? I’ll add a picture of how it looks when the athletic trainer tapes it.
