How should I convince my parents to let me do Allstar next year?
I did high school cheer for two years, then I made it onto a senior 5 team at a local Allstar gym and my parents were reluctant to let me cheer there because it was a 20-30 min drive and was expensive.. I ended up having to pay through fundraising for the first couple months. Then I tore my ACL tumbling, and was out the rest of the season :'(
I love all star so much though and really want to do it again!! My parents are concerned about safety, injuries, cost, distance, etc etc and since they didn't support my cheering in the first place, I need to think of a good way to convince them to let me try it again! Ideas? By the way this would be the last year I could cheer on a senior team (unless I super-seniored)

For the cost issue you could offer to get a job this summer and save up money for comp season, and do fundraising...basically offer to pay for it yourself, like you seem to have done in the past, but add the job during the summer to make it easier to get all of the money. As for the time will they let you drive yourself so that they don't have to go all of the time?

That's what one of ours did, she got a job and paid for herself. A few others have gotten a job at the gym working in the after school room or doing the birthday parties on weekends and such. You could carpool or drive yourself as far as their time commitment.

I'm currently trying to talk my mom into it too, I love cheerleading more than anything... The closest gym is about 3 hours away :( But I'm in the process of getting a job to pay for gas and all that.

3 hours away!!!! Oh my gosh! Someone needs to open a gym in your area!!!

It sounds like you are determined! They all took my suggestion. If your parents see how much you want it and how willing you are to help out as much as you can with the costs, that can only help your case. Good luck!

Yes, I've had my lisence for over a year so they wouldn't have to drive at all :) which helps. But I think also it's a matter of paying for gas and putting miles on the car (which isn't technically mine)

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I've never had a job so I don't know for sure if getting one would just over summer would really make a dent in cheer tuition? I don't have time to work during the school year, 5 APs :(

Jobs such as lifeguarding or working at waterparks or summer camps are a great way to work for the summer but not be commited to working year round while you're in school. If you are dedicated and work hard, that can cover a large chunk of expenses! I made close to $2,000 while working for minimum wage (back when it was 5.75) as "slide girl" for a waterpark when I was in high school, and that covered nearly all of my cheer tuiton for the year (aside from misc comp fees, etc.).

I suggest getting a job at your gym as some one above mentioned.it might work out better that way since they know your cheer schedule and so you won't have to worry about the times crossing. :-) good luck and hope this helps!

I drive myself to my gym thats about 20-30 min away!! its really not that bad of a drive! as for money I would get a job at the gym or babysit A LOT!
