I have never been to NCA Nationals before so I'm looking for any tips you all may have for a newbie?

i was about to kinda start the same thread, i also have a question if this is okay of me asking on here gacheermom. About how much is the cost for a weekend in Dallas, competition, etc.? you can PM me if its easier, thank you!

Lets see....

I think the comp fee is about 150.00
Hotel- 600.00
Admission- 35.00
Flight- 400.00
Food for 2- About 200.00
Souvenirs- 100.00

NCA Jacket- Priceless

That's all that came off the top of my head but I'm sure I'm forgetting some. Anything you were curious about that I forgot? :-)

Get there EARLIER then early.... know where ALL of the floors are...

Well my daughters team goes in warmups at 7:30 am so that should be easy. :-)

There is a McDonald's about a block or two from the Convention Center....so much cheaper than food at the Convention Center and a nice walk on day 2 when you need to get out while waiting for awards!

Don't leave purses or bags unattended. Last year my daughters bag was stolen and I don't think it was cheerleaders as they used her debit card at a Walmart within minutes of the time they took it. I have heard this over and over again. Sad!

The sponsors have some fun things for kids like rooms to make things in, giveaways, etc. Be sure to hit those rooms for entertainment!

NCA ASN has A LOT of cheer thieves..... so if you are on a team in which people would want your shirt, or backpack or any other cheer paraphernalia ... KEEP it with you at all times, because it WILL be snatched.

How incredibly disappointing.

As has been mentioned........ do NOT leave ANYTHING of ANY value in the warmup rooms. The warmup rooms are downstairs at the Convention Center at street level where ANYONE can come in. There is security walking around but they don't know who belongs and who does not. One of our cheerleaders got her phone stolen last year. Give parents your backpack after you get to the convention center and have the team mom/parent collect all cell phones and carry them in their bag everywhere you go. This way there should be not a single thing left in the warmup room where you were.

McDonald's is not far but the DART rail is right below D Hall (if you go out the doors downstairs by the warmup rooms all you have to do is cross the street to get to it). You can take DART to the West End to several restaurants and walk around a bit down there.

This weekend here in Dallas it is going to be warm during the days with highs in the 70's to possibly low 80's. It will be HUMID as a system is coming up from the gulf and there is a good chance of rain and severe storms on Sunday as well as high winds expected. So pack an umbrella or raincoat.
