All-Star Northern Virginia Cheerleading Exploding

Wow. Starting in may there will be 6 allstar cheer gyms in Northern Virginia within a 15 mile radius. Legacy Dulles, Legacy Manassas, Maryland Twisters Manassas, Infinity allstars Fairfax, Phase allstars Chantilly, and Cheer Tyme Chantilly. Wow!!! Next season should be fun.

Looks like for a gym or two, this season might be their last hurrah.

I don't necessarily see some of these gyms panning out very well.

Since I just moved from NOVA. I can tell you that even though that sounds like a lot of gyms, with the traffic situation, those 15 miles = about 1 hour or more in the car, depending on the direction your headed the car. All those gyms have something different to offer, so it depends on what you are looking for. Many in NOVA are really just getting into all-star cheer. Many kids did competative rec. Two of the new gyms will likely be picking up many their kids from the very successful competative rec programs that their coaches/owners used to run.

Northern Va is a highly populated area and has some of the richest counties in the country! Those gyms will be fine as long as they put out a decent product! There are just as many gyms in the md areas that border DC (Md twisters, Md marlins, Crimson Heat, Spirit Force, Unique all stars, Dream, Elite Cheer Action, Xquisite, Md cheer explosion, Titanium) and they have all found their niche! And that doesn't even include rec teams!!!

It will be interesting because in the case of 4 of them they are really going to be close (like maybe a couple of miles max). I think it will be a good experience overall. Legacy had Vipers next to them and Legacy still lasted (which Twisters took on). Twisters already has many girls coming from Virginia. Phase has SYA rec as it's origins for many and Cheer Tyme has CYA. Both rec programs have strong teams. There are many talented athletes and coaches around here -- hope it goes smoothly for all gyms and we have some healthy and friendly comp. I know my girls know girls from several of the existing and forming programs. Yeah NOVA CHEER!
