Sorry if this is obvious but all competitors must stay in the Allstar resorts or the carribean unless they are full right?????

Nope. Gym's choice whether to stay on property or off.

Nope. We got our bid in December and we're staying at a different location. We saved a ton of money booking it ourselves.

You can stay wherever you want, but if you don't stay at one of those two you have to arrange your own transportation everwhere.

Do you think staying on the ground saves money in the end? Considering arranging transportation for the whole team and buying separate park passes, etc?

So, does anyone have a hotel they recommend for spectators to stay?

Well if you stay off site you have to pay $265 for a commuter fee to compete. That will get you 3 days of park hopper passes to get you into the competition and parks. I'm not sure how much it would cost to arrange transportation for everyone, but it's probably not anywhere near $300/person unless you want to get a extra park hopper passes. It's roughly $530 per person for a quad at all-star.

The world marriot is a great hotel! My team stayed there last year and we loved it! The rooms are spacious, they have a decent cafeteria, and pool is spectacular! Room service even delivers to the jacuzzi(:

I've stayed there before and I love love love it. Best beds in the entire universe.
(That was for COA, not Worlds so I have no idea how the transportation and such would work out)

Is this a paid bid or an at-large? Assuming it's a paid bid, don't the gym get a set amount to cover the team without having to cut-rate the trip for the athletes and coaches? If it's an at-large bid, it's understandable that a team is looking to save some money where they can but they're covered under a paid bid and cost-cutting wouldn't be necessary one would think.

A paid bid is $650/athlete. Considering it's $560 to stay in a quad at the all-star resort, it's not completely covering the costs of lodging and airfare (which is probably upwards of $300) and food.

We have two at-large bids. The only thing we didn't realize was that with the at-large bids you are required to purchase the park hopper passes through the Worlds Travel package. We were going to originally get all the athletes the discounted military passes as we're traveling with military families in our gym. So that was an added additional expense.

But tucknduck is right, you get so much per athlete depending on the type of bid. And even when you do get a paid bid, the money for the trip is good for certain nights (coming in Thursday and leaving Monday) so if you wanted to come in earlier or stay later, that fee is on you.

You only have to get your park hoppers for Thurs/Fri/Sat through the package - it's included in the commuter fee. If you want to go to the park other days I don't think you have to go through them.
