OT Random question - what happens after abandonment?

Recently I've been watching a lot of urbex (urban exploration) videos and among places visited in those videos were old schools as well. What happens to mascots, team names, jerseys and cheer uniforms when a school closes?

Depends on why the school is closing probably. Closing because a new one was built to replace, everything gets moved. Closing and not being replaced, jerseys, equipment, uniforms, etc. either auctioned, sold, or given away depending on circumstances, school board, local governance, etc. If it's something like a private school closing due to financial reasons such as bankruptcy, everything would be sold/auctioned to attempt to satisfy debts. So short answer...it depends.
