I'm with a little dilema, so Id like some opinions or ways how others'd arrange it.

Our team doesnt have the funds to get new uniforms each year, but we change every 3 years.
Next year we'd have new uniforms, but there are few that just joined the team recently.

How would you do it, make them buy the current uniform and than a new uniform in half a year while they'll probably just wear the current one just once?

Or already order them the new uniform but than during one competition about 4 would have a totally different uniform as the others?

I also thought about not getting them a uniform yet, but I can't send them naked on the floor either...

In my opinion they need to be in the current uniform.

I would suggest calling girls that used to be on the team to see if they would be willing to sell/donate their uniform to the new girls. This would cut the cost a lot.

Or just have them borrow it or rent it for a half year or something.

As a last resort, are there girls on other squads that they could potentially borrow unis from just for their routine. I realize it is suboptimal but if you only have one more comp and depending on the logistics of when each squad performs, it might be workable.

or, since its a first competition, gym shirts and shorts work. or tanks, or sports bras or whatever.

plenty of teams do that at the very beginning of the season.

If they are only wearing the uniform once, I would think you could come up with people they can borrow them from, even if they have to switch in and out at the competition. I know I wouldn't want to buy a uniform to wear just once.

i agree. find a few people on different teams that they can borrow the uniform from to compete

^^^ agreed! unfortunately this happened to me.. at my old cheer gym i got that uniform but left after a year since they were a brand new gym opening it was way too small so i had to get a new uniform the next year when i went to my new gym then of course this year we got new uniforms so i've had to get a new one every year for the past 3 years..

I agree that this would be the best option. I'm sure that there are some gym members on other teams who wouldn't mind sharing their uniforms for 1 or 2 competitions to just get them through until the end of the year. We did this at our old gym where we sold our old uniform to a new member with the understanding that my daughter still needed to wear it for a few of the competitions and she purchased it at a reduced price. We rewarded this girl with a Christmas gift and at the last competition we gave her a nice hoodie and a thank you note to show her how much we appreciated her 'sharing' the uniform with us.

cheershorts and bedazzled sports bras...its cost effective and wit a big ole' bow no judge can resist

..not to mention can be worn again

lol, i have a different uniform for every year ive cheered.

Thnx for all the advices so far. Borrowing from others would be a perfect solution BUT....we are a brand new gym and all those new girls can't buy uniforms from previous members, a few did but only 2 left since we started. We almost doubled in size in just one year.

the idea of just competing in shorts and t-shirts is a good alternative. I'm now considering just waiting one more year in hope there will be a 2nd team in their agegroup who they can pass the uniforms to.

I think you should base alot of it on the area the gym is in. If its a urban neighborhood that you are almost positive can not handle shelling out $300 for a uniform then just keep the ones you have for another season. If most of the families are not struggling to pay the bills then go ahead and order another uniform. Uniforms are essential to cheerleading so if this means that you need to take an expensive competition off the schedule for the upcoming season, it will be worth it considering these uniforms will be worn for the next few years. Hate to sound bratty but money is just a part of all-star cheerleading, most dont like it but in the end its necessary.

Didn't someone post rather recently a uniform for their half year squad? Ahhhh.. I think it's the new uniform thread? It looked great and I think she said it was pretty inexpensive.
