Question? Why aren't there Canadian trials in the IO and IOC division at Worlds? The US has trials to bring the number of teams down to 10 moving into Semis. Its an extra opportunity for the US teams to be on the scoresheet (without a rubric), to get feedback, make adjustments and be on the floor. I've asked this question from the USASF/IASF for 3 years and have been told that there aren't more than 10 Canadian teams in these divisions and thus, we don't qualify for it. NOT TRUE...as an example this year there are 19 IOC5 teams from Canada, and there have been more than 10 for the past 3 years in both IO5 and IOC5. Add to that this year there are FEWER than 10 US teams in the IO5 division and yet they get a "trial" (in which everyone will advance). Does this seem like just an extra perk for teams from the US? And before any American tells us about the expense of only one run....stop. We aren't allowed to earn paid bids and our partials essentially pay for 2 people on a team of 24. PLUS, 16 or the 19 teams Canadian team in IOC5 will only get one run this year. All the arguments made that support the US trials, support having a Canadian version. We only want the same treatment.

My guess - Worlds is supposed to be put on by USASF/IASF. But in actuality, it's pretty much all organized by USASF and I think the actual international teams are kind of an afterthought. And they've been babied this far because they traveled so far and weren't on the same caliber as US teams. But that's not really the case anymore, and you're right, there's no reason why there shouldn't be a Canadian Trials. US Trials happens whether there are 10 teams or not, so in those cases, it literally is just a practice run.

Bring it up with the EP that gave you your bid. Maybe they can bring it up to the powers that be. Or write a letter to USASF.
