I'm curious to see what tumbling different HS teams have, since I know that it can vary a lot. At my school we have 2 whip through fulls (1 JV, 1 varsity), 6 fulls (1 JV, 5 Varsity), 5 whip through layouts (1 JV, 4 varsity), 15 layouts (5 JV, 10 varsity), 6 tucks (4 JV, 2 varsity), and 10 back handsprings (all JV).

All girl (16 girls)

12 tucks or better
9 layouts or better
4 fulls or better
1 Arabian thru full

4 standing BHS
11 standing tucks
1 standing full

Coed (16 girls 3 boys)

8 standing back handsprings
5 standing tucks

The whip through to full on JV, is it because they're a freshman and your school doesn't let freshmen do Varsity? Or can they literally only tumble and offer nothing else? I'm always curious about how others schools handle freshmen - out here in AZ it's slim pickings for good cheerleaders so generally freshmen can make Varsity if they can just do a tuck.

Varsity (I forget how many.. We have recently had people moved around from JV to V )
2 fulls (4+ working on fulls)
10+ Tucks/ layouts
Full Squad has Roundoff 2 BHS and standing BHS and Toe Touch BHS
6 or so standing tucks

JV
Half have RBHS and Standing BHS
Half have no tumbling

The whip through to full is a sophomore. She is also a pretty good base and has good jumps. The other full on JV is a freshman though, because our school doesn't let freshmen be on varsity.

Our teams are done by skill level

JV (15 total):
- 1 roundoff backhandspring tuck (total) **On JV to work stunting
- 2 roundoff tucks (total) **On JV to work stunting
- 5 standing backhandsprings (total)
- 5 roundoff backhandsprings (total)
- 6 front walkovers (total)
- 5 Backwalkovers (total)
- The rest; no tumbling/cartwheel/round-offs

Varsity (21 total):
- 17 standing backhandspring (total)
- 18 roundoff backhandspring (total)
- 7 standing tucks (total)
- 7 two to tucks (total)
- 10 roundoff tucks (total)
- 8 roundoff backhandspring/speciality tucks (total)
- 4 roundoff backhandspring layouts (total)
- 3 roundoff backhandspring fulls (total)

We have a second tryout next week for athletes new to district/any JV athletes who feel they may be eligible to make Varsity. So tumbling may change a bit by then. JV we compete all girls on the team; Varsity I only plan on compete 12/13 due to how the MA scoresheet works (majority)

Unfortunately I only have 2 with back handsprings :( both on Varsith, 1 a junior and 1 a freshman.

Full team Toe-Backs
Full team Fulls
1/2 team Toe-two to fulls
1/2 team standing fulls

Dont get discouraged by this! I have never ever had majority tumbling, and still had my team qualify for state, all but one year in my 9 year coaching career. Make up those lost points in other areas (voice, motion tech, stunts...) It is totally possible!

My sophomore year of high school we won state with four tumblers - two running backhandsprings and two running tucks - against teams with squad tucks. Plus, you can always build them up! Just put a lot of time into tumbling the first year, build up those lowerclassmen, and then focus on stunting the next year.

Yeah so far they're looking amazing without tumbling. The school has never competed before and this is my first year as head coach so hopefully going to competitions will motivate some of the girls to also take an outside tumbling class.

I went very small this year, quality over quantity!

-6/10 round off BHS tucks
-6/10 standing BHS tucks
-8/10 round off BHS
-8/10 standing BHS
-4/10 round off BHS layout
-2 are working on fulls

Those 2 non tumblers are both BHS with a light spot, haven't pulled it on their own.
