All-Star 25 Day One/75 Day 2

Probably team 2 would win with either 25/75 or 50/50 which is fine with me. but Im saying its more likely with a 25/75 split that a team that does really bad on day one and hits really clean day 2 could prevail over a team that is VERY good both days. Thsi is the situation you will avoid by going 50/50. You will not avoid that situation going 25/75. The norm "2 great teams compete" and one has an ok day and a great day and one has 2 very good days could go either way if you use 50/50. But 25/75 it could potentially go in favor of the day 2 great day tea. Its just more full proof to use 50/50. Less room for error. We could argue this all night. Looks like you and I are willing to. LOL. This is actually fantastic becasue I am really trying to give the 25/75 thing a chance, but no matter how people try to explain the good in it I am a mathimatical freak so I am having a hard time seeing it. 50/50 makes so much senes to me just like 25/75 make so much sense to you.

Ok, the math part helps out.

YES all things being the same two objective scores averaged out 50 / 50 each will produce a consistent winner.

But youre forgetting judging error and the fact Cheerleading is still subjective. In general scores go up as a division goes on AND on day 2 (at the 50 / 50 competitions as well). The 25 / 75 takes It consideration the human factor and 'normalizes' it as much as possible.

i think it stems more from the history of cheer, when there were prelims and finals, but people don't want to pay for a 2 day and not necessarily compete two days. So we have day 1 being worth 25 and day 2 being worth 75 in an attempt to give that feel of prelims and finals.

The idea of still having a chance to come from behind is what makes sports so great. There are no great sports stories of a team that scored first and then held the lead the whole time and won the game

Platinum hit day one (the 20% day) but not day two (the 80%). 50/50 would have actually made their win even larger. The point is 50 / 50 doesn't reward consistency as much as you think, it just has the appearance of it.

50 / 50 comps are going to reward the teams more with a better placement in the oration as well. A team going 10th out of 20 has a better shot of getting scored the most accurately both days. The team going 2nd day one but 19th day two can be hindered by that early day 1 score. Assuming everyone hits mind you. With a reverse order 25 / 75 the stronger teams go near the end assuring the more difficult stuff gets rewarded. it doesn't guarantee a win, yu still have to hit.

So youre saying you agree that Platinum should have won? They must have been that much better. Good for them? I do get what youre saying really and believe me I understand the number and how varsity scoring works. I wasnt trying to make an example with varsity scoring, just simply trying to make a mathimatical point.. I just dont agree. Like I said thats why we all have choices. I am really hating the "we could bomb and still win thing'. I dont care how good the team is... Trust me my teams will pretty much do better with a 25/75 split becasue we are normally a day 2 team. True the is no great stories about the team that scored first and then held the lead the whle time won the game. BUT if the team was good enough hold the lead te entire game and wi the game does that mean they shouldnt have won becasue someone didnt come back and win at the buzzer. Wouldt that just mean that the team that played most of the games better won??

I like day 2 being worth more if you have the same judges. I think it takes an amazing team and coach to look at where the judges scored them and read comments and see what they need to fix or do better the next day and then bring it. Some of my favorite times were when the coaches were going over day 1 scores and tweeking things and letting the team know it was still anyones game. It reminds me of a halftime pep talk.
