I know many people across the world continue to cheer in college, But whats the best advice for cheering allstar and staying on top of your studies?! School comes first always...So i guess Im asking more has anyone had problems doing allstar cheer while in college?

Well I attend community college for my super senior year last year, and I luckily got to pick my classes for only two days a week both semesters. True first semester was a pretty long day compared to everyone else but it wasn't that bad since I had 5 days to complete everything. Second semester I also had to take an online class but that wasn't very difficult either. Just make sure you allot time for yourself to get studies done before practices because you'll never want to do them when you get home.

Thankyou for that. I am actually considering staying closer to home, so i can keep my job & cheer allstar while attending a junior school. I made UT arlington cheerleader but you cant cheer allstar and cheer there!! Thats just not an option in my book...But i really do like the school so idkkk. But thankyou again!

No problem. Just remember it may be tough at times, but it can be managed. Just be smart about the classes you pick. You're not going to be able to do a chem lecture with a lab, calculus, english, history, and another bio class. If you can do all that, have a job, and cheer, you're my hero.

Just remember you'll have to manage your time EXTREMELY well..
Finals are usually right in the middle of december when comp season starts to pick up and in April/May when the season is ending.

If you manage your time well and know what you need to get done, it actually isn't that bad. I was able to manage five classes each semester, two teams and a job my first year of college, while still having time to go out with friends and sleep. You just have to make sure that your schoolwork comes before hanging out with friends or going out on a friday night. It helps if you have a planner or calendar so that you can write down exactly what you have to have done and plan your time accordingly.
I do know quite a few people that had problems, but it was mostly because they didn't go to classes so when it came time for papers and tests it took them twice as long as it should have, and they didn't have time for that. As long as you stay on top of everything its not that bad (:

I had a job, was in a sorority along with several on-campus clubs, and cheered allstar my freshman year of college. It was a good life lesson for me that taught me how to prioritize my time and my activities in general. Through that first year, I kind of realized that there's a lot more to life than cheerleading and that it was time to grow up and move on. I dropped cheerleading and picked up a minor.. now working on a double major in school. Now I concentrate on my studies, sorority, & clubs during the school year, and do UCA staff during the summer.. all with a worlds ring on my finger! It's the balance that works for me, and you may find your own balance after your first year!!

My advice? Try it & stick it out through your first year even when it gets tough. If you find it's too much, then there are other opportunities to stay involved with cheerleading over the summer, weekends, or winter breaks. Don't let the fear of failing make you miss out completely!!! Plenty of athletes cheer college, allstar, and still have time for their work.. everyone's story is different!
