I wasn't really sure where to post it so I just put it here. At practice I sometimes have pain in my left wrist. It hurts around the thumb kinda close to my wrist and my fingers hurt sometimes close to my hand, like lower fingers. Also, my fingers go numb for a long period of time can last a couple of hours to couple of days, it's usually my pinky, ring, and middle finger. At practice when I push my hand back it hurts and making circles kinda of hurt. My grandpa says that I may have carpal tunnel syndrome and I'm not sure what it is, what could have caused it, what I can do for it, etc. Anyone know anything about it and maybe know someone who's had it? If it's not this what else do you think it could be?

I've always had wrist pain, and there are times when it becomes unbearable. I was like 15 and went to the dr and when they xrayed it, they noticed my ulna is longer than my radius causing it to kind of "grind away" at the cartilage in my wrist. It also ended up causing a slight tear in one of the ligaments in my wrist, but it tore with the ligament instead of across it, making it much harder to heal or fix surgically. The only option I had was for them to go in and "shave" the tear so the longer bone wouldn't catch it when I bend or rotate my wrist, and then shave down the longer bone to prevent it from continuing to happen. But it would have put me out for a very long time because it's like 9 months recovery time and they won't do both arms at the same time.

The dr said it's actually pretty common, but most people don't notice it because they aren't putting as much pressure on their wrists as I was with cheerleading and gymnastics. I'd definitely look into as a possibility. To help the pain when you tumble, I'd get a pair of tiger paws. best wrist braces ever.

Go to your doctor. They can diagnose you and probably show you how to practice without making it worse. Don't risk permanent damage by ignoring it or trying to work through it.

My best advice is to see a doctor, but rest and ice daily in the mean time. I've been going to therapy for 6 weeks now and had found out I had a tendons tear instead of tendonitis. So medical attention is the best way to go, and hopefully a good therapist to help strengthen your wrists to help with the pain.

I have it from being on fierceboard and facebook too much lol....and also mavis beacon and tumbling!!
