Last year was Cheersurge's first year, but they took a lot of feedback, so I don't know how different it is going to be this year, but I can tell you what it was like last year.
Last year, the camp was almost all allstar cheerleaders, but it seemed slightly geared more towards school/rec cheerleaders. The girls practiced at a convention center on mats, not spring floor (you would have to contact them to see if this has changed this year). All of the girls were taught a couple sideline cheers, regardless if they were allstars or not (again, this may have changed). They had the girls all do the same approach for jumps, even if their own teams was different. They also had every girl participate in a mandatory mock try-out, which consisted of a cheer, jumps, and tumbling. As for the tumbling instruction, it was difficult for many girls to tumble because of the spring floor. For stunting, the girls were split up into stunt groups that seemed to be by ability. It didn't seem like anyone was really being held back when it came to stunting. The boy coaches offered to co-ed stunt with all of the girls and they all loved it. I know this year they have a form you have to fill out before you come to camp with the stunting/tumbling skills you have/almost have. This is new. There was also optional private lessons one morning. Each girl was asked what they wanted to work on, and if they had a specific coach they wanted to work with, and had 1 or more half-hour privates.
As for the fun part, the camp was super fun. I feel like it was more focused on fun then improving skills. A lot of time was spent at the pools at the Nick Hotel. One night, everyone went to Planet Hollywood for dinner, then Downtown Disney after. Another day, almost the whole day was spent at Universal's Islands of Adventure. The girls were split up there by who likes rides and who doesn't so everyone was happy. Everyone got slimed in the mass sliming, as well as the individual group sliming. Everyone also went to see a show at the hotel one night, and had breakfast at the Nicktoons cafe one morning. There were also the little things, like snacks brought to our rooms, or nachos in the director's room, and breakfast in bed.
As for safety, all of the rooms in the hotel conjoin with another room. Everyone was on the same floor, and all the rooms were next to each other, with the directors on one end and coaches on the other. They younger girls' room conjoined with the girl coaches' room. Nobody, even the high schoolers, were given room keys, and you were allowed to leave your room unless you were told to. The male coaches were allowed to even set foot in any of the rooms besides the directors and their own. The coaches and directors walked past the rooms at night.
Overall, the camp was more sun than skills, but it really was a ton of fun. They got a lot of feedback from the campers, so I think it will be improved this year. As for things such as the spring floor issue, I would email them.
