When I started cheering in middle school my coach at the time had a hand book with the cheers ( most of them staple cheers that most schools use) and stick figures drawn out to show the motions so that we could go through our hand book to practice and learn the cheers. Now that I coach cheer ( a youth team of which my girls are kinder through 3rd grade) I really wish I would have kept that handbook to be able to use with my girls. Younger girls need those type of things it really helps them catch on faster and allows them to practice at home as well. I searched the internet for something like that ( simple cheer with motion pages that can be printed out) but I've had no luck. I did type up all the cheers my girls use so far and am thinking I can just draw the stick figure motions myself but wanted to ask if anyone knew of anything like that online? Doesn't have to be my same cheers. I'm always willing to teach then new cheers. And doesn't have to be long cheers just the normal sideline football cheers. Thanks :)

What I find a lot easier with the technologies around these days: take a video and upload it to youtube and make it private (so only people with the link can view the video). I always have 2 girls do cheers/dances at the same time, so kids learning cheers/dances at home can see what it looks like from the front and from the back at the same time.

I did that last year with the competition cheer and dance but I had a lot of parents complain that their daughters didn't have access to a computer or that they aren't allowed on one. :/ I coach in a small town and it's a youth league and although we do one competition a year it's nothing like Allstate where parents and cheerleaders take it seriously. Don't get me wrong my girls give it all they have but they want a simpler way that their girls can practice the cheers at home. That's why this year I made cheer folders. I was just hoping someone had already done some of the footwork that I could use. If not I'll be soon drawing stick figures with motions :/ lol. Thank you though. I do agree that would be so much easier if only I could get the parents to feel the same way.

If you can't put it on youtube, I was always given a DVD with ALL of the cheers. It also had a lot of jump technique stuff. Our coaches filmed two of the senior aged girls and that way we could watch it whenever.
If that won't work either, when you make the folder, just have a "glossary" page with all of the motions and such, that way in all of your cheers you won't have to re-draw each one.
