So I was put as a crossover & I have 4 and a half hours of practice for both teams combined with no break & I was wondering what can u do to build stamina I guess is what I need to live through that practice 3 days a week??? Lol

I've done that before! It was hard to adjust to but if you put the effort in you'll be fine. Get lots of sleep the night before...go to bed a few hours earlier than you usually do! Eat well...try to stick to healthier foods even if it means packing your lunch every day and not buying the school food. Drink lots of water...will help you feel more awake, energized and of course hydrated. Ask your coach for your second team if you can grab a snack or take a short rest/study break while your second team warms up. You'll already be warm from the first team so I think a 15-20 min break will be a good recoup, especially once it gets to the point where you know you'll be doing lots of conditioning and/or full outs on either team. I'm sure your coaches will understand!

We have a few crossovers and they usually sit and take a break while their second team runs (we run for 15 minutes or 3/4 mile depending on how hot it is outside) and gets warmed up. Make sure you always bring a snack. A clif bar, fruit, crackers, something healthy, not chips or candy. I do 4.5 hours during HS cheer season and my favorite thing to bring is a bagel or clif z bar. Im not a big fan of clif bars, but the z bars are made for kids (I'm 17, whoops$) and are smaller and taste better, but still give you energy. That way you can keep your energy up for the 2nd practice. Also bring a water bottle and drink lots of water so you don't get dehydrated!

Hmm we have some athletes that cross over back to back practice and we give them a quick break to eat. You can have all the stamina and endurance in the world but practicing for that long without a quick break to eat a snack or something isn't good for your body.

Agree with the above. My daughter has 4hr practices - she and any of the other crossovers eat lunch and break for about 15mins while the other team warms up. She usually knows to go to bed a bit earlier the night before and to drink plenty of fluids. I also make her stretch and she will even do yoga later that night to keep her muscles loose! I think she is pretty well built into the routine and it only wears on her if it's been a long weekend going into Monday practice (like 8 softball games lasting till 11pm all weekend long ) you should build up to the schedule fast! :D
