Hey everyone! As some of you know I have type 1 diabetes. Keeping my blood sugars in a good range is hard enough and adding cheer into the mix makes it a bit tricky. I don't feel low blood sugars most of the time and something called a continuous glucose monitor would help me with that by alerting me of low and high blood sugars. Unfortunately insurance doesn't pay for these monitors.

I've set up a go fund me fundraising page to help pay for the continuous glucose monitor seeing as it's quite expensive! Every dollar helps and I'd appreciate it immensely if y'all could help out:)

The page for the fundraising is Dexcom G4 Continuous Glucose Monitor by Alicia Magliocco - GoFundMe
And more about what a continuous glucose monitor is can be found at Dexcom. Discover Smart, simple, straightforward Continuous Glucose Monitoring.

Thanks :)

Good luck! We had a flyer last year on my CP's Y3 team with diabetes and day 2 at the Summit the team kept getting announced then pushed back several times and they had to go out of order. We found out the flyer was dizzy and her levels were way off. We were pins and needles praying she would be ok. That is scary. Everyone hit with zero deductions, she was amazing. It was still scary though.

This was sort of my issue last friday. You know when you get caught up with the whole competing and getting ready and practice mat before you go on. I totally forgot to give my coach my meter and glucose tabs/gatorade and I ended up having a low after competing and could barely see when we went to watch the video playback. Someone ran to get gatorade for me and ended up being held up by another coach from another team saying she couldn't go back to our stuff the way she came. She gave the lady an earful about my low and being diabetic and the coach later apologized.

I for sure will be better prepared next time but I also am a coach so I do run all over the place between coaching and being with my kids. So having the CGM to glance at quickly when I can't do a fingerstick test on my meter would be nice.
