I observed a coach or someone I don't know...yelling at a staff member at a competition this weekend..WTH...that really struck me as wrong...as a parent, I don't care who you are, you do NOT yell at anyone who is working a competition...I was close enough to hear the whole thing and the coach was in the wrong, so I won't air it on fierceboards..but I just really thought it was bad sportsmanship and I thought wow..in front of the kids in the program and other people..gahh...remember other people can see you and observe you and your program does get a reputation by doing stuff like this people..

And hello things to think about I am a military mother..my CP moves next year..any guesses where my CP will NEVER EVER EVER cheer????

OK rant over..thanks for letting me get this off of my chest...back to our regularly scheduled world's programming, arguing and predicting...

I would totally yell at a competition worker (not in front of my kids or parents tho) Sometimes I get heated, or as I like to call it, passionate. I had a competition worker put their hands on me at a competition. I came unglued. I also got in a yelling match about scoresheets (I only yelled because they yelled)

I can agree with you that it should NEVER be in front of kids or parents.... but I wouldn't say Never :-)

OMG we questioned one of our scores at a very huge/popular competition and then met with the head guy....after 20 min and looking at the rules he said we were right and he would take care of it and took our score sheets (no yelling at all).

The next day the same thing happened, so we went back to him and asked what the heck, you said you would fix yesterday and make sure it didn't happen again. He said What? I never spoke to you guys. Can I just say our Owner is a 6'8" 245 lb. black man....how do you not remember talking to him? And you took our sheets. Well I bet he does remember him from now on because our owner went off. We lost that comp by .2 and the error would have put us ahead by quite a substantial amount. Grrrrr. It was the only comp we lost all year.

Unfortunately as with all sports, shouting matches with refs, umps, ep judges/staff are going to happen. I don't like it but it's human nature sometimes. I do agree it should never be done in front of children or out in public view.

Please don't yell at competition staff unless they're doing something like genuinely endangering someone's well being. Besides, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar...

I've had people say some pretty amazing (not in a good way) things to me and my coworkers at competitions. Some days I wonder if anyone realizes we're real people and not little fairies that pop up to work LOOOOOONG hours at cheerleading competitions. When I'm working at an event, I'm not there to try and ruin your day... I'm there because I love this sport and cheerleading did a lot for me- I want to give back.

At the last competition we attended the judges were up on a riser and they had a large area behind them that was closed off with curtains. It gave so much privacy to the coaches that needed to speak with the EP or head judge. It was nice to not have to worry about people watching us conduct these private meetings.

And I'm not a yeller. I think I'd look obnoxious.

I had to go thru some stuff with the ep's at a recent competition. I was very very nice - even though they
totally messed up some things with our scores & honestly it got me nowhere......
next time..... i'm not being nice. of course i would NEVER make a scene in front of people.
