Some gyms allow it..some dont. Not till this season have i have noticed girls chewing gum during their routines...while tumbling jumping ect. Whats the point of this if you do chew it? I could so see myself choking if i was to chew gum -___-

my gyms (i have been to 3cause of moving) have never allowed gum in the gym and we were forced to do laps if they caught us with it (rough i know lol) however i find that chewing the gum itself while competing helps me focus on the routine one thing at a time for some odd reason

at my gym we are NEVER allowed to have gum once we walk into the gym. when i used to chew gum (i can't anymore because of braces, and i find it gross anyways now) i would just be talking and it would fall out of my mouth. i can't imagine chewing gum and cheering.

i used to chew it in warm ups and throw it away right before we went on the floor. it helped with my nerves to be doing something else

I personally think its a huge safety risk, especially at competitions. Yes, you can stick it to the roof of your mouth or hold it with your teeth, but it might not stay there if you fall/jump/tumble/etc.. Also, if someones gum fell out... gum+cheer shoes= ew. I definitely wouldn't want my flyer to have gum on her shoe

Some people say that it keeps their mouth from being dry when they are doing the routine. Personally, I think its just another way for someone to possibly die on the mat. That gum could easily get stuck in your throat tumbling or stunting!! Plus if it falls out on the mat, then it might get all over people's shoes and would be a complete mess.

So shouldn't be allowed IMO. :)

No gum ever! My daughter loves to chew gum, but all it took was one time for her to sallow/choke on her gum during jumps to tucks and she never chewed a piece of gum, at practice again!

Not only can you choke, can you imagine if it falls out on the floor. Disgusting!

Imagine having to pay for that strip of floor. I consider it disrespectful to your gym as an athlete, unless your willing to replace the strip you ruin, keep it out of my gym!
