11/01/2012 - Helping our NY and NJ Cheer Gym friends after Hurricane Sandy...
We are organizing efforts to help out our cheer gym friends in NJ and NY that have been affected by Hurricane Sandy. As you can imagine it is hard to communicate with everyone to see what their needs are, but in the days to come I'm sure it will become clearer. I will be setting up a separate account to accept donations which we will split evenly among the programs affected and we will be working on finding out kind of donations are needed and trying to get those delivered.

I'm trying to reach each gym and will share more details as I get them, along with monetary and supply donation details. If you have been in contact with one of the gym owners in the affected area let me know so we can include all of them in our efforts. Email me at [email protected]
I know our all star community has big hearts and we all want to do what we can to help, so I'll be updating you
as soon as I can.

These are the gyms I have reached out to so far, some are ok, some are sending me their families' needs, some I am waiting on replies, and a couple I'm not able to get through to them yet. Please let me know if anyone else should be added to our list:
All American Cheer, Cheer University, Island Xtreme, Just Cheer, NY Cheer, Premier (Farmingdale), Riptide, Spirit Factory, Spirit Xplosion, South Jersey Storm, Staten Island Elite, Staten Island Spirit, World Cup

Thank You, Kathy Penree

Donations can be made payable to Cheer Relief Benefit Fund, PO Box 655, Herkime
r, NY 13350. Funds will be distributed equally among the gyms' families who are in need. A Pay Pal link is also being set up. We'd like to make the first distribution of funds by 11/18, so the families have some relief before Thanksgiving. Donations for clothing and home goods is in the process of being finalized and more updates will follow

If any cheer gyms in NJ are still without power, please contact me. Jersey Allstars has power and may be able to provide a place for some teams to practice.

My 8 year cp will love to hear this she has been really worried that teams would not have a place to practice.

Such amazing support! As most of us here are still in amazement of the devastation it's heartwarming to see and hear everyone helping each other! There's a movement here in Jersey, Jersey Strong, and that sediment we keep proving everyday!
We were fortunate but I am thankful for everyone's help and to be able to help those in our program as well as the others in need <3

Could an individual go at a certain time just to tumble and stay loose like an open gym?

Yes...send me a pm. We're working on a schedule.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Manhattan Mini Storage helping NYC victims of Hurricane Sandy

Local business joins the relief effort to help other local
businesses and Manhattan residents dry out.

(New York, NY, October 31st 2012) Manhattan Mini Storage, owned by parent company Edison Properties, quickly responded to the devastation of downtown Manhattan by setting up an emergency hotline to help businesses or residents who have been displaced by the storm. They are offering free boxes, a free move and free rent to anyone who has been directly impacted by the storm. Anyone in need of these services should call Elias Jaffe directly at 646-276-1617 for more information.

“As a homegrown, family-operated company, we make helping our neighbors in need a priority,” said Gary DeBode, CEO of Edison Properties. “It’s a company mandate and, frankly, what every good New York company we know would do.”

Edison Properties has been family-owned and operated since 1956. In addition to Manhattan Mini Storage its affiliated companies include Edison ParkFast, The Ludlow, Workspace offices and the Hippodrome – all businesses dedicated to simplifying city life for busy New Yorkers.

To learn more about Manhattan Mini Storage’s effort, please contact Stacy Stuart at 973-849-2556 or [email protected].
