..I don't know how I even thought of that, but wouldn't it be the coolest thing ever if a level 5/6 flyer + tumbler did that!? If you don't know what a GoPro is, it's a really small and light weight camera that people wear on their heads while doing stuff like zip lining, snow boarding, snorkeling etc. It's less than 3 ounces in wight and 2.4 in wide x 1.7 in tall x 1.2 in thick.. Poofs can be bigger than that.
It would work best for someone with dark brown or black hair, & they would cover the gray part with fake hair + make sure it is 100% impossible to fall out/test it out in practice.
But this is my question, do you think there would be a deduction if it was at a competition where pictures & videos are allowed? As long as it didn't fall out it wouldn't be a safety deduction. & I think it would be really easy to hide with black hair!
Even if it wasn't at a comp, not hidden + a full out at practice, that would be an awesome video! Haha :D

Worst case scenario - flyer is dropped/ tumble bust and lands on their head, the camera could cause so much damage to their brain / skull - to be safe you would need to wear a helmet - probably not too popular!! However on Instagram I did watch someone tumble with a go pro attached to their chest on a kind of harness? I forget who it was, maybe Holden Ray?

Yeah, I think I remember seeing that and it was Holden.

As a mom, I'd say no way if that was my athlete---all it would take is one fall. Way too much risk for some 'cool' videos.

Someone brought theirs to practice once. I wore it on my chest for a couple of stunts. Did a coed full up with it and someone did a back tuck basket with it.

I think sticking googly eyes to a poof would be a good idea!

I know I have seen one...and for some reason I am thinking it was either Gabi or Micheal Eddie-lol

I actually own a go pro and I don't think this would be possible. It's bigger than most people imagine and there would be literally no way to attach it to your head. And the hair would cover the actual camera so all you would see is hair.

HPU did it, really fascinating to see the POV when flyers do a layout double towards the end of the video!
Also, I don't think they attached it to the head, but maybe chest / neck?!

:)

I've always wanted to play with one of these!! I have seen straps that will attach it to your head, but more on the side sticking out. I've seen them attached to chests, arms and legs. LSU had a cool video at a game few years ago. I've even wondered what they would do if we sent an athlete out with one on her arm at a comp when we were in our own division.

We did this one practice - but a base (my cp) was wearing it on a helmet on her head. It's on youtube, but i'm on my phone and posting links doesn't work well with it.

They are a level 3 and she didn't tumble, also we watered the stunts down a little to make sure no one got hurt.

But i've seen cool videos on youtube from Flyers in L6 baskets and tumblers wearing one.
It's fun to play around with.

Jake Dalton the gymnast has some cool videos of him practicing with a Go Pro.
