Wow. Just wow. But unfortunately not surprising. This is why 24 year old MEN should not be cheering with 15 year olds. I am glad this young man is speaking out. I'm not sure what's more appalling, though, in the whole story--that it happened in the first place, that it wasn't the first time, that MANY on the team seemingly knew about it and not only did nothing but joked about it, that the coaches and/or owners knew about it, that the police weren't involved immediately, and that the parents have not pressed charges. Just so many things wrong here. And I wish that I thought this was an isolated incident, but I'm sure it's not. If this had been one of my daughters, you can be sure that whether they wanted to move forward or not, there would be arrests and lawsuits. There was a coach who worked at the gym we had been at previous to our final gym. My two never liked him and told him that to his face--they're not shy. He gave them the creeps. They were young at the time--maybe 5th grade. He only lasted a year. He then moved on to another gym still in the area. I guess this was sort of his MO--stay a year and move on. Anyway, he wasn't there long before rumors flew. The owners fired him and immediately called the police. I believe he served 3 or 4 years (maybe 5) and was released this past fall.
Wow. This is complete with actual documentation and barely has people responding. Meanwhile, grown adults are all over "the girl from CEA" twitter with their torch and flames - a girl who has named minor children in some pretty awful tweets with zero documentation or credibility (as related to those specific tweets). It's pretty disgusting what some are willing to ignore
Yeah I hopped onto that guy’s channel real quick expecting to see loads of comments. Instead I saw he had like eight. It really does seem that nobody cares because it’s not CEA. I would hope that if everyone really cared about abuse as much as they claim, then this would be enough to turn some attention toward Fame. Instead, like many things involving CEA, it’s turned into a race to see who can crap on the gym more regardless of any reasoning.
This is not to say “Oh poor CEA they’re bullied so much.” I mean they are, but my larger concern is people hiding behind very real issues as an excuse to bully people/teams/gyms. Lots of the anti-CEA anons don’t care about or even understand the accusations they’re promoting; all they care about is crapping on a gym they don’t like. And in the meantime, the victims at Fame — who’ve got documentation backing them — are ignored. It’s transparent, it’s exploitative, and it’s gross.
That’s not to say that CEA is an innocent victim in all this. I think it a clear mistreatment is happening there, at the very least. But it’s also clear that anons don’t care unless it’s happening at CEA.
To be fair, you don't hear allegations like this coming out of Ray's, WC or CA very often if at all. CEA is the biggest name w/this problem. I'm sure if it were WC. The focus wld be on them.
Plus Twitter is not the definitive place for these complaints. It's opened Pandoras box for sure. But, I think more will come of it away fr Twitter. The Gen Zers could surprise us.
They didn't say it doesn't happen at those programs, its just not anywhere even close as frequent as others. I think it's that frequency and very long history of high frequency, as well as what you mentioned with them putting themselves out there far more than others, that puts CEA in the spotlight of it more than others.. But in general I completely agree. I don't give any gym a pass when they get called out. It's interesting that people say they don't hear of it often from this or that program.
I coached for HS for awhile and have followed all star cheer for the better part of tbe 2010s (been on this board for the last few years as well.)
In that time I have heard allegations of at most, verbal/emotional abuse and at the very least, questionable coaching either on this board or on another social media outlet coming from more than just CEA.
I've seen similar allegations (on here and social media) coming out of people from:
*Cali locations.
*CA
*SOT
*Maryland Twisters
*ICE locations
*Rays
*WE
*Rockstar
*Fame
*more, these are main ones off top of my head that I recall immediately.
Others have been mentioned as well. Some of these have come up multiple times.
There are very few large programs I've NEVER seen anyone come out and label as a toxic environment or raise concerns about coaching. (WC is one, but I am sure if you dig enough online, someone has.)
Of course, there is no way to know who is just a parent with a grudge or not, but to say it's mostly CEA is offbase.
I think CEA is most visible with YT channels and fanpages and such, so folks tend to become "outraged" when they hear it about a program they feel like they "know" from YT and IG.
This isn't meant to defend this behavior at all, but if we are going to be outraged, we can't laser focus on this one program and ignore the fact that cheer has issues.

ive been saying this for awhile, CEA gets the most heat because of how out there they put themselves, the college project where they did a doc, the jtv, the MG era. They also have a very vocal coaching staff compared to most imo. It's interesting that people say they don't hear of it often from this or that program.

If that gymnastics college coach cared to follow up or not push aside stuff said about Nassar then many many of other athletes would not of been subjected to that monster! It is time for adults to believe athletes and get something done!Honestly, your both right.
just like Bill Cosby. First person to accuse him was called a liar. No one wanted to believe her. Then the second woman then athird finally issue was investigated. In the end he had several women press charges.
Then suddenly several other men were accused.
The me too movement was important.Ever since Jerry everyone has been watching cheer.
every case deserves to be looked into.
I have seen how my gym handles things.
But sadly I think , it will get better for a while. As folks forget, it will start again
Even worse, one person leaves the gym. There are several others waiting.

Y’all see where the gymnastics coach was arrested? He has ties to nessarHe was accused before that! A little girl at the gym he worked at before MSU told another coach and she blew it off. Unreal.
