It's not I was relying on them to say good things I just don't agree with people thinking that she isn't having fun. I asked a question about how it is and the atmosphere change for my child is more so what I was looking for. Not a personal attack on me and
my daughter cheering and what skill she has mean she isn't having fun because I care about how she is doing.

But "fun" never came up in what your co-worker said to you. What you said was that she gave her opinion about the fact that your daughter would probably be shown up at a large gym. I don't think she "attacked" you - NOR your daughter- I think she gave a straight-forward, un-filtered opinion. Which you opened yourself up for.

IMO- I think each type of gym has it's own pros and cons. I think that it's just up to the parent and child to decide what they want and where they are going to be happiest at. Regardless of what type of gym your child cheers at, I do believe that they should be having FUN. :cheering: Happy Cheering!

Gotta agree with @Mamarazzi on this one. You can't exactly make the videos available to the public and then say you're crying because of what someone thinks of them; either don't let people see them, or stop worrying about what they think. As for you "not talking to her like that", if she's your coworker I can only imagine how much she's heard about your daughter. I know a LOT about your daughter, and I've only seen you on here. And you can't exactly come on here and ask for advice and then flip out because you don't like the advice you're given - just because you didn't like what @tucknduck had to say...you DID post a question, and you got an answer.

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but it's coming from a better place than it sounds.

Well sorry I asked anything I wasn't fishing for compliments I don't want to hear nothing about what my daughter can and can't do... I was merely looking for information about the difference she will be facing - between large gym small gym with her skill set.

@Kris10boo I tried to answer the original question to the best of my ability......We love are small gym and a child can flourish in either setting!!! My child may not win Worlds, but she will give some girls a run for there money at college tryouts!!!

I do make mistakes and sometimes what people are thinking I mean by what I wrote doesn't always come out right. I mean I'am a little bit younger then y'all considering I just turned 23. So I may not understand what the problem is sometimes but I feel like everything I have written is turning out so wrong! :(

You are as old as my oldest yet retired CP!!! My baby CP is now 14. You can't go wrong going either way...just go with your gut and you will make the right decisions!! In my 15 year allstar journey, I have made plenty of mistakes!!

First, not one of us on here is a victim. We all have opinions, thoughts and feelings and we are all allowed to express them No one attacked you, and no one HERE commented on what she can or can't do. Your co-worker did, though. Because you wanted her approval. This = fishing. You wanted her to say "Wow! Juniorboo really has skills!" Only she didn't. Yes, it hurts, but you put it out there for her to say whatever she wanted to say.

To me, if your child is a natural, they will progress at any gym large or small. The difference...they will be a 'star' at the small gym and they will be 'among stars' at the bigger gym!!

Never push, just encourage.

I don't push her to make her do it; I just wonder how it will effect her if were at a bigger gym and she is no longer that one! She is one of many. If she doesn't go past level 2 ever then although I will question if its the coaching I will be ok with that long as she is having fun. I want the best for her.

Not going off on a tangent. Staying right on topic and offering insight having been thru it with two older kids. One who is an older advanced level cheerleader and another, a former varsity baseball player.

As for what gym your CP is best in, I'd say where the best coaches and athletes are that'll help her progress and get the most of her abilities. As for concern about everyone loving her like a star and being the center of it because she's the youngest, I would try not to make too much of it because in the end, cheerleading is a team sport and will only be as good as the weakest link. The idea is to be part of a team, not the main attraction for a successful team. Again, with a 6 year old, you won't know for sure how far she'll go. The most important thing is to have fun and learn the sport with good coaches and good athletes that are team oriented. It can be in a big or a small gym. It just depends who's running them.

i enjoyed being looked at my small gym and an awesome flyer, always getting compliments, but i knew that i was just average for my level. when i was at the large gym, i was just another flyer, which i was also okay with because it gave me something to compete for. i would think to myself that i want to earn the compliments, and that made me push myself farther. at the small gym, they praised me on how well i did, that i kind of reached my limit, i had nothing to work for any longer. so i would prefer a big gym, so i can push myself to exceed more.

I am head coach at a small gym but we act like we're big I guess bc we don't settle for average. Why do so many small gyms do this? It gives small gyms a bad rap. I'd never let anyone settle for average skills. Ever. I don't get it!!

After it became clear that my cp wasn't going to grow out of this cheer phase I made the move from a very loose 'let's have fun' type program to a small team at a gymnastics gym. My intent was to have her mature and learn skills properly and not get hurt.
After a few seasons we moved to one of the big gyms. She is now one of the little fish but over time I know that she will make her mark. I feel like we have had the best of all worlds.
Also, I wanted to add that while my cp was one of the better kids on her old team, that didn't make her the coaches favorite and it was alway the favorite who was spotlighted. . .
