I was in the warm up room this last weekend and i saw this coach multiple times get with in a inch of a girls face and yell at the top of her lungs how she sucked and need to keep her butt in the air. Then preceded to yell at the bases how horrible they were and that they need to start doing there job. fyi this was a youth level 2 team. I was absolutly DISGUSTED I feel like you should never treat children like this.

Is this how your coach acts or is it just me not used to seeing this type of coaching?

sorry about the above post. my computer was going haywire.
but i have seen coaches do things like this and i think in my head "is that actually going to make them do the stunt any better?" i mean at that point, it's probably causing the girls to breakdown mentally and is more than likely going to be worse. i understand at some points, a coach needs to get a little more strict and direct, but to scream in a girls face is unnecessary, even on upper level teams.
my coach has said to us things like "pull it together now or don't expect much at awards" or "we'll pull it out after this comp if you don't get it together." not in a mean way, but in a way that says you need to get rid of whatever is messing you up and hit it like you know how to. if my coach ever acted like this (even though i wish she would to some of the older girls on my team with serious attitudes), i would probably think twice about my gym choice.

This is gonna sound horrible, but coaches like that really need to get over themselves- it's just cheerleading. They shouldn't be acting so awful to children, whether they're mini level 1 or Top Gun Semi. Really. Especially because screaming in somebody's face won't make them better- like lovexyoux234 said, it'll only stress the girls out and ultimately make them do worse. Plus, we're in this for the love of the sport, not to be screamed at and told we suck. Pretty soon, if that happens often enough, girls will lost sight of how much they really love the sport, and end up quitting. And with that, the team suffers. So coaches that scream in girls' faces = big no-no.
