Hey this is my second year being a cheer coach but it’s alittle different for me as I was coaching a high school team and now I’m teaching middle school. My first year was alittle rough on coming up with my own cheers, routines, stunt sequences and I had made my own music for competition. I need alittle help on a cheer for competition my team is now dragons with the colors red, black and white any pointers?

Hey there! Moving from high school to middle school cheer can be quite a shift, but it’s awesome that you’re embracing the challenge! For a competition cheer, start with a powerful, catchy chant that emphasizes “Dragons” and your team colors—it’ll make the routine really stand out. Think about incorporating phrases like “Go, Red, Black, and White—Fight, Dragons, Fight!” to bring team spirit to life.

For choreography, keep the moves sharp and focused, with motions that are simple but visually strong to match the younger age group. And if you’re looking for help with sequences or ideas for building out stunts and formations, Cheer Builder has resources for coaches like you. They offer sample routines, chants, and tips that are perfect for middle school teams, so you don’t have to reinvent everything. Good luck, and have fun with your new team! www.cheerbuilder.com
