My favorite is having to pay money to do homework online... I just love giving $125 to a website to do homework my teacher is too lazy to grade! And speaking of the same teacher, I'm so irritated with her. I'm going to be gone the week after thanksgiving, out of the country, on a vacation that has been planned for over a year, and I'm going to miss a test. All of my other teachers are letting me take any exams or quizzes I'll miss before hand but she said no, because "it's not fair to the other students". First off, how is it not fair? I'm the one who would be taking it a week early, I'm at the disadvantage. And second, life isn't fair!!! It's an online exam too. So it's not like she's even grading anything or has to do any extra work other than open the test link up early. It's just frustrating that all my other teachers have been so accommodating and she isn't when she would have to do the least amount of work.
Rant over. Ugh.
That really sucks. :( I'm already over at least two of my classes this semester and it's my second day of classes. Apparently my school thinks it's okay to have teachers that speak really low with extremely thick accents teaching precalc and macro. As if those weren't hard enough already.

Heyyyyyy, I'm in precalc and micro (assuming you mean economics)! My precalc teacher likes to call on everyone randomly in class and my micro teacher acts a little crazy, but at least he's interesting. My astronomy teacher is super awesome. And then... There's my accounting teacher. I'm so annoyed with her I would drop the class but I just spent $$$ for an access code.

Yeah I mean economics, lol my professor is like super unorganized and walks like every where while lecturing and draws crazy graphs everywhere and mumbles the whole class and everyone is just like :S and my precalc teacher is a little old Russian lady with a super thick accent and I'm pretty sure I have no idea what she talked about in class today at all. I planned my classes around my crazy work schedule so I can't even really drop anything. This semester is gonna be a long one, lol :(

I'm not sure how good I am at Econ, but if you need help with PreCalc I'm pretty good! And I feel your pain. I scheduled my classes around work too, so I kinda just had to take what I could get.

Me too! I got a hair piece from them for my wedding day. $15 instead of the $300 the bridal salon tried to sell me on. I even signed up for their Pro service this year.

I signed up for the pro service as well! I rent too many dresses not to do it! I got my bag for the day of and some jewelry as backup for myself and for my mom/mother in law. I absolutely love it. Everytime I get a survey I tell them that they should do something for people going away on extended vacations that don't include being charged double. I was going to have dresses mailed to me in the bahamas and such for various vacations but they don't ship international, and they said that if I got them sent to my house before hand, it would take too long for them to be returned so I would be charged extra. Hopefully they will figure something out, because it is a perfect service!

One spring semester I had a computer science professor who had to have been fresh off the boat from japan. He barely knew English, he would stumble over words 24/7 and it was impossible asking him for help because he didn't understand what we were asking. Essentially we had a professor, who didn't speak our language, teaching us another language. We also spent hours just trying to get the programs needed for class up and running. That entire semester in that class was a trainwreck. He gave us a take home test and our entire class got together (there were only 7 of us) and we still couldn't do it... I got the highest grade, a 79 (I'm positive he didn't grade mine as harshly because I was one of two girls in the class and there are only like 5 girls in the whole entire CS department. And he kicked the other girl out of class once because she ate a breathe mint and he went ballistic about it.) He lectured our class for days in broken English about how bad the grades were and how American students are lazy.... During the final, he passed out the exam, wrote "suffer for two hours and then you are free", and then left the room for an hour. I had him twice.

I think you just won the award for worst semester.

I'll definitely take you up on that! Lol I already accepted the fact that I'll probably be teaching myself 90% of the time this semester and khan academy will be my best friend. Me and math don't usually play well. Lol

Lol the first day of that semester my dorm building caught fire and we were homeless for the first couple days of school. That semester was a roller coaster to say the least.

I feel bad for all students who have professors with heavy accents though. Even if they're great professors they're just so hard to understand!!

That must've been so stressful omg! At least you got through it and now you can laugh about it lol.
It's always been my luck to get the professors with the heaviest accents for the classes I struggle with the most. I always just wind up having a friend retract me everything before exams.

Has he never heard of the phrase "grading on a curve"? 60s on CS exams were not that uncommon for us.

What a loon.

One of my professors told us that he hates the idea of grading on a curve because no one would ever want a doctor who graduated because of curves. I was just like

Yeahhhhh, but when no one scores above a 70, the problem is probably the professor, not the students.

In any case, I'm just a programmer. There's always google if I need to look something up :P

we live the same life. except my professor escaped cuba (really. she told us that story on the first day of class) and it was physics. i didn't understand physics as it was and i most definitely did not understand her accent. to make it worse, the class i signed up for was a geometry based physics, but the class members (who were clearly much smarter than me) requested she teach calculus based physics... and she did. before i'd ever taken calculus. after getting F's on the first few quizzes, i ended up dropping the class and taking it at community college over the summer.

this semester i have visceral pathology with a professor with an extremely heavy indian accent. she is the tiniest, sweetest, most adorable woman i've ever met (she assisted in a few of my past labs) but i don't understand a word she says. i'm already afraid. and she just talks so dang fast.
