There is a number of gyms out there who idolize or only focus on their one "Awesome Team" I respect the gyms who not only have that "One Great Team" but you can tell the program as a whole has consistency from top to bottom. I think gyms should focus on the younger lower levels and train them as hard as the older higher level teams. In my opinion many younger "Future Stars" get discouraged when this happens because they know if they didn't make that one particular team then they don't get the attention and extra coaching. Makes them lose interest in our sport. Thoughts??

I don't know the thread but this has been discussed before , you may want to take a look if you don't get many responses.

The coaches of my daughters team also coach Weathergirls (and seperately they each coach 1 other team) and give all of the teams the same attention, focus etc.... They expect the same regardless of if its a level 1 or 5 team....

I have seen higher level teams in my gym get favoritsm over lower levels by getting extra practices and pushed harder, however i think for the most part our teams are coached with enthusiam just maybe nit as hard.

I feel like Cheer Athletics is great at giving the same attention to all of their teams no matter what level. Their teams all look great each year!

I can only speak for my gym but ALL coaches of level 5 teams coach multiple teams at multiple levels and push each team as hard as that team allows. We do take some teams to different competitions for different reasons. Example: Youth 2 is a DEEP division at just about every competition held, however some Level 4/5 divisions aren't as deep so it can end up as an "exhibition" so we travel to different comps looking for competition.
Also, first year parents might be scared off if we ask them to travel to NCA, UCA, ATL etc. due to costs, so we try to keep costs down as much as possible while still providing them a competitive experience. I will say that over the past few years we have added more teams to our travel competitions. Just speaking for my gym, just because some teams are more noticed by the outside doesn't mean we don't treat them the same on the inside.

The owners of PCM step in and coach all 26 teams in all four locations. They coach them the same way the they coach the level 5s.

From what I have seen at our gym, our coaches have given input and interacted on all teams. And my cp personally has gotten good advice from all owners and coaches at our gym.

Stingrays are THE prime example of this!

Who wouldn't wanna be on the level 5 squads...
From what I've heard from friends going to the big gyms and what i've seen on youtube
Cheer Athletics and Stingrays are great companies with a family respect and love to all teams.
I have seen favouritism happening a lot in smaller companies. The higher level teams do so because they do well and bring the company recognition, which of course is terrible for the other teams and really cuts into their self esteem!

I've heard of favoritism happening in some of the big-name teams, and people leaving because of it.
Not trying to put down any program, but I think coaches may naturally expect more out of higher level teams/older boys and girls. Just knowing that people look to them more and they go to bigger competitions.

But of course there are many awesome gyms that don't do that. I agree, Stingrays look like they do a great job of that!
