I was wondering what people's practices were like compared to mine. So here are some questions for ya'll. What gym are you at? What level? How many times a week do you practice and how many hours? What is your practice like? What happens when athletes break rules? What do your coaches do when there is too much talking during a practice to a point when nothing is accomplished? What happens when attitude breaks out on the team? What do your coaches do if athletes start yelling at each other?

My team doesn't work as a team and it's very irritating. Teammates start getting attitude with each other and it ends up as fighting and yelling. It's very annoying and I just want to see what happens with other gyms. Thanks!

I cheer at infinity allstars
level senior coed 3/4
we practice 2 times per week ( one 2 hr practice, one 2 and a half hour) we are also required to take an hour of tumbling and encouraged to do open gyms and privates.
if there is too much talking we have to do 2o push ups and sit ups
and for the other questions it has not really happend on my team

What gym are you at? Florida Top Dog Allstars(:
What level? Senior Coed 3
How many times a week do you practice and how many hours? We used to practice Sundays, Mondays, & Wednesdays but now we practice on Mondays & Wednesdays (2 hours each practice)
What is your practice like?It really depends on if we have a competition coming up or not.. usually there are competitions coming up so we will mainly focus on what we need to do better than last comp (like baskets or timing) then we run through the routine a lot of times
What happens when athletes break rules? On the packet is says that we would sit out a competition, or be dismissed from the team
What do your coaches do when there is too much talking during a practice to a point when nothing is accomplished? We run around a few laps around the floor and not talk
What happens when attitude breaks out on the team? the coaches usually just sit w. them privately to talk with them
What do your coaches do if athletes start yelling at each other? I am not sure, we didnt have that happen yet...well we do but the coaches dont really notice. (:

My daughter cheers for Clarksville cheer extreme.
She started on tiny 1 this season also at the end does mini 1.
She practices on Sunday and Wednesday for 1 hour each for mini's.
She practices Tuesday and Thursday for 1 hour each for tiny's.
She does 1 hr tumbling on Monday's by choice.
We use to do privates once a week but stopped this past month.
So total is 5 hours a week.

Practices are just that- practice. Since both teams are younger girls I feel as some weeks the girls are better behaved then others.
On the tiny team there are alot of 3 year olds and alot of pee breaks. The 3 year olds are clingy to the coaches sometimes. And just some of them don't listen or are constantly being told whAt to do even by the parents. Some lay down and refuse to bug or get in the right spot.
However, the coaches realize there 3 and though its frustrating as a parent and a coach we all realize the age of the girls so I understand.

I feel the punishments fit the crime. They don't get to play games if they are not good and every once in a while they have to sit with their parents.

From what I seen on the older teams they get less privileges or run or until someone does what there suppose to. They will also keep doing their stunts and or jumps or tumbling to the point where others are now saying "please do it right so we don't have to keep doing these over and over". It's not to bad at the gym and everyone usually works well together. Sometimes you can feel the pressure right before a big competition though.

Luckily I haven't seen much of the attitudes since were still mini and tiny! I'm sure everything will get better for you and good luck!

I cheer at CheerForce at the san diego ca gym. International coed 5. We practice Fri and sat and now sundays as well since worlds in so close. Our practices range from 4-6 hours. Our practices are great our team is really unified, were like a big family. As far as breaking rules it doesn't really happen but when theres too much talking or whatever our coaches make us do a billion jumps to back/fulls. As far as attitudes we try and push each other and help each other not get frustrated. If its a big problem then the coaches will pull the athletes into the office after practice and talk to them personally in private.

-ICE;) (FTW)
-SR 4 last season hoping to be SO5
-2 mandatory practices that are 2 1/2 hours and a 1 hour tumbling class that comes with it, but optional
summer practices are conditioning and going back to the basics like even if you were on 5 last season we're doing level 3 stunts right now. getting into fall we just practice our choreo b/c august is usually when we have choreo. end of september-november is drilling the routine &&tons of conditioning (at least 3 full outs a practice). From December on we get even more intense and do at least 5 full outs at the mid practice &at the end we do a full out for conditioning and some other stuff conditioning wise. at the end after all the competitions we have the funnest practices, such as pizza parties, freeze tag during tumbling, tie dye party (coming soon &&super excited:)) and just messing around they're so great! I'm not on a Worlds team or 5 &they run their practices different if you're wondering.
-It depends which rule they break, there's a whole bunch of stuff about this in the rule packet. I would tell you some consequences, but i haven't read that in like a year and don't remember it at all.
-depends on how much talking we did, minor- "SHUTTT UP! I swear the next person that talks i will cut your pony tail off!" (of course sarcasm) major- a thing called tumble torture or some other kind of conditioning. tumble torture is when your team runs around the 9 panel in a single filed line, one person at a time tumbles out of the corner the next person goes to the next corner and tumbles etc. til the entire team has thrown counts as 1 luckily we're a small team
-minor- talk to after practice major- team powwow and talk to them after practice
-they usually come in and tell them to basically chill out and keep away from each other till practice ends and they'll talk to them after practice. If it's really bad i truthfully don't know because I haven't seen it. After practices usually the coaches remind them whatever drama you have leave it at the door this is practice, you're a team and you need to respect those on it &ask whats happening? why? etc.

Yeahh i get ya it's really weird &confusing to explain and understand, but easy to do. so the team will line up in a corner of a 9 panel start running around it in a single filed line. The first person in the line tumbles out of the corner (running pass). Then the 1st person goes to the end of the line. The line is always runing around the nine panel, BUT following the 1st person in line, which always changes. The 2nd person tumbles out of the next corner that the line runs to, and then goes to the back bringing a new person to the front. The line has to run in order like it can't go across the floor (it must go in this type of order front right corner to front left corner to back left corner to front right corner) They keep going from corner to corner ^like so^. (i drew a diagram below-- blue= first person yellow= 2nd black= team)

This process goes on til the last person on the team has tumbled from the corner. Once the last person has tumbled then this counts as one lap of tumble torture. the bigger the team the more running you do. I hope this explains a lot more, i know its really confusing to understand bc it's really hard to explain! If you still have questions please ask, i really don't mind.

For Team texas this year we had 3 hour practices-until or we had long practices like 6 hours. when we needed to change alot. This was my first year cheering level 5, the practices are SO much different. We didnt talk much at practice, everyone was so focused...i loved it.

I cheer at All Star Cheer Academy, my senior 3 and 4 practice 3 times a week, 3 hours each practice. We usually have combined practice since most of the girls on 3 are also on 4, and we will also sometimes add more practices if were going to a big nationals of some sort.
