I thought of a great idea!! It's like when there are dance schools, half of school day is education, other half is dance, and more dance activities after school. It's basically the same as that, but with cheer!!! I really hope this will actually happen, has anyone got more ideas? The cheer school would still be allstar and compete, and have different teams in the whole club.

Dance schools produce dancers who make a living dancing, cheerleaders only make a living from cheer if they open a gym or coach. I would rather my child go to a normal school and get a good education then go half a day so that they can cheer the other half.

Yes, true, never thought about that. Thanks for your opinion though!:)

I actually spoke to a private boarding school about offering a "cheer program". With the way parents complain about paying for a trip out of state, you don't even want to think what it would cost to go to a school strictly for cheer lol. Needless to say, it isn't at this time cost effective, BUT (crossing fingers and toes) IF cheer can be recognized as a "sport" in college, there are plans!

a gym in az (az power? maybe?) tried something like this last year.. slightly different concept though. They offered online schooling (which is available to anyone, anywhere) but they were adding in tutoring, resources, etc. because a lot of their girls had long commutes that interfered with school hours and homework. not sure how it took off or what came of it. i'd love to hear how it went?

Sounds great:)

Two of our coaches are teachers anyway so I say go for it. My daughter hates public school and we are switching to private next year anyway so why not lol. Seriously I could see why it wouldnt work because the long term cheer career isnt the same as with dance but I am sure you could find plenty of the kids to go for it. Not sure about the parents though.

Oh if dreams came true this would be my ideal job. I find it so hard being a full time teacher and a coach, it would be AMAZING if I could join the two together. Imagine block rotations of fitness, stretch, conditioning, stunt, tumble, dance etc in with regular block rotations of algebra, English, physics, music (obviously ;) ) etc. It would have to be a much longer school day to accommodate but the days are extremely long for cheerleaders now, so in theory it could get a lot shorter. The Tories are all for setting up 'free schools' here in the UK and my gym has the ideal building attached to it for a school...I'll go off into my own dream world now :D

I cannot remember. I'm sorry! It was on here like 5 or 6 months ago. I don't remember the details! The lady had a daughter there, and a special needs son who was at the gym I believe. Anyone?
