All-Star Summit D2

Well, considering it's about 1.5 hrs between the 2 summits, crossing between them would be almost impossible. However, yes, in theory, you should be able to cross between the normal summit and the d2 summit

I actually google maped it and it's only a hour and two minutes from ESPN to TCC ;)
So, if someone competed at 9:30am at Summit, and on another team at 2:30pm at D2, it's totally possible. Tiring and I don't know why anyone would do such a thing, but possible :/
I know many girls who competed at worlds in previous years and would drive home after competing to go to prom in the Tampa area.

except you'd have to commit to the summit way before you knew your compete times. they could very well be at the exact same time. hopefully that'll defer some people, who, no doubt, are thinking about it.

what if a parent at a small gym has 2 CP's and the gym chooses to take one to small gym summit and one get s bid to regular summit? that would suck. much like coaches having to be two places at once, as someone stated earlier. in theory I like the idea of a D2 gym being able to upgrade to a paid summit bid should they be offered one... but the logistics of one gym (especially one with 125 or less athletes and a small staff) attending both is a little nutty. I wonder if varsity would be willing to accommodate for the 1 hr 2 min travel time for a coach if needed?

Very doubtful. If a gym winds up attending both, and share coaches between both, gyms would probably have to split their staff.

At the USASF Regional meeting, the people running both events said that they would NOT accommodate coaches or crossover issues.

I'm curious to see how many super small gyms we've never heard of before, have never competed at Summit (or even attempted a bid before for that matter) are going to come out of the woodwork, prepare to pay the money, and do D2.

Should be a very interesting 2015-2016 season.

The D2 summit is significantly cheaper. I imagine it will be well attended.

I'm sure the entry fees are a lot cheaper, but it's still stay to play and travel isn't cheap for any gym out of driving distance. Or do they offer deals that include air too?

I doubt that they'll have deals with air...but there's no house of mouse. No hopper passes included in the entry fees. That right there has to cut the cost in half for the people that would normally commute to the summit. It's stay to play, which I despise, but I imagine the teams going to the D2 summit will be spending a lot less than the teams going to the summit.

That's a good point, I forgot about the park hopper and Disney attached things the other Summit will have to have.

My first instinct is to think that a second competition on the same weekend would be a huge challenge to pull off and not have it be "lesser." When I think about all the moving parts that go into the production of The Summit (and just from a spectator's view!), I question their ability/desire to duplicate the Summit experience at the same level of quality. I could be totally wrong, and hope that I am!

Why would it flop? It doesn't sound like it would be much more expensive than Cheersport or Supernationals, both of which are STP I believe.
I'm looking forward to seeing this evolve, actually. Since they have the Summit's experience to draw from, I don't think that the learning curve will be all that steep.

Cp's gym is planning on attending this event. They're not a no-name, we've-never-heard-of-them gym at all though. They're just small.
