Has anyone ever been injured celebrating their performance? Sometimes I see people tackle each other when a routine is over and get scared they're going to get hurt.

As I was getting up my friend tackled me to the floor making me face plant!! It hurt!

My friends and I always did this after our great performances and we got bent in odd directions but we never got injured. It's natural instinct to avoid getting seriously hurt.

At battle one year in awards, I so happened to be sitting by top gun. When they got their bid, they went CRAZY and I got jumped on and trampled on!! I was stepped on and couldn't get out! Somebody from another team thank god grabbed my leg and dragged me, helping me get out of the way. The next day I woke up to 3 large bruises. Two on my legs and one huge one on my side where a girl had fell on me. Now during awards I stay in the middle of my team just in case lol

I think lots of teams get really carried away during awards. I understand you're excited, but the floor gets so crowded and obviously people get hurt. Not good.

Exactly! I was seriously scared to death. Some of the girls apologized after and made sure I was okay. It's just still crazy to think I got trampled lol

Very valid question, I have seen some instances where I was sure someone was going to be hurt- and I've seen the same on my son's baseball team.

I have gotten angry at some events that first cram as many teams as possible on the stage to the point it is a valid fear that some kids will get pushed off and THEN they say "okay, now let's everyone stand up and dance." Seriously???

Just one more reason I like the way NCA does it, they present awards in smaller groupings of divisions and teams leave as they receive their placements, thus making room for teams to go a little crazy.

after my team was announced 1st, i went to hug my best friend and she was already hugging another girl so she didnt see me and she elbowed me right in the teeth. i was already crying so that made it worse. ive got a picture of me holding my mouth haha

Back in 2000 my stunt partner at Georgia Tech was black and we were pretty good friends and she invited me to Black College Nationals (I believe at that point it was sponsored by NCA). It was held in Atlanta and had a decent turnout for what it was (maybe 40 teams?). It was held at a stage downtown, I think it was the Fox Theater. I have no idea what the warmup facilities were like but I can tell you the performance stage was on a mat on a solid concrete with linoleum tile floor. An all girl team (I believe Clark Atlanta) went on stage and performed a GREAT level 6 routine. I was thoroughly impressed as they were definitely better coached and had a good routine. They finished with a two 2 2 1's straddling the middle of the floor and nailed their routine! They were ecstatic and so excited! So excited in fact that they dropped both top girl flyers to the floor after they hit and then everyone began jumping up and down and going nuts! The one closest to where they exit the floor hurt her ankle and as her team was exiting the stage they helped carry her off but every one was happy she didn't seem to care. But the other 2 2 1 flyer lay on the floor knocked out, by herself, for a good 20 seconds before anyone realized she was there. She rolled over and got up and walked off before her team came back to help her (you know they had NO trainers there). The scene was almost comical it was so ludicrous.

I know this picture isn't funny.... but thats funny.

Yesterday, at awards at Battle, they called every placement up to third (we were third day 1) & we didn't get called. So us and the other team stood for top 2 they announced us national champs and I hugged my bestfriend and got elbowed by a different girl in my nose! But hey, my first time at Battle and I won, I was still pretty happy!

2009 Battle at the Beach my tiny tumbler who was very very tiny then was trampled by her own team mates (old gym) which were junior 3 at the time when they were called for first place. She was unable to get up and receive the banner and was definetley crying and in pain. As a mother in the back of the hall watching this unfold it was quite heartbreaking not to be able to run up and grab her. A team mate did finally notice she was lying there and went back to grab her and in all the pics they have with the banner all are smiling except for mine who was still crying in pain. After the floor was cleared the whole team dissapeared outside to celebrate and left her with me to try to find someone to look at her and what to do.
After getting ice and calming her down I was very upset with the actions of most of her teamates. I know they were excited but when you have a man down you need to be a team. Never looked at them the same way again, and we will never forget that awful awards ceremony.

At uca last year we hit our routine and me and my flyer were the last ones of the stage due to the fact the we knocked each other over hugging and went Rolling onto the floor. The uca guy was like pushing us to get off the floor, it was so funny. So of course on espn they show us walking backstage and there is my flyer and I half laughing, half crying (happy tears) and half out of breathe. It was not my best moment on espn. And during awards they are locked on us again where I am again crying. I was so happy for my team because we just couldn't get a break with people quitting and getting hurt and we did so well.
