i've never cheered before, but i've been practicing tumbling for the past couple months at a gym, have all my level one tumbling, am working on my back handspring, and am looking at getting stunt privates. i've kind of fallen in love with all star cheer, but i'm worried there will be judgement from my teammates and other people if i end up starting my senior year. i know the obvious answer is that it's never too late to start all star (and i'm pretty close to consistently throwing a BHS), but i'm worried about the logistics socially of joining a team with girls who have been cheering for years. any advice or personal experience is appreciated, thank you!

Do it. There's a likely chance you'll be on a level 1 or prep team, not a team with athletes with 10+ years of experience. Worst case, you hate it and don't fit in and stop after 1 year, best case, you love it, meet new people, experience something new, learn new skills, so might as well go for it. Everyone starts somewhere, might as well be now

ETA - I started cheer at 15 and all-star at ~24

YES!! Absolutely do it! You might be a senior and wrapping up a phase of life, but you're entering a completely new one and it is absolutely NEVER too late to start something new, even All-Star cheer! One thing we learned as a cheer family that might be my favorite thing about the sport, is that while it's very competitive, the cheer community is always supportive of fellow athletes, regardless of what gym they cheer for, what level, etc. One of my favorite things is seeing all the athletes pinning one another at comps and showing up for each other. My daughter's team came in DEAD last at Cheersport in February, and after so much hard work and training, she was just feeling deflated and was crying. Another athlete saw her on the escalator, we were all tired as the awards were at nearly midnight, but she turned and saw my daugher's tears and asked "do you need a hug?" and proceeded to hug her and said "its okay girl....we keep going." She was older, and on one of my daughter's FAVORITE upper level teams, and my whole heart melted. DO IT! And good luck to you! You got this.
