Is that legal? I've seen teams make major changes from day 1 to day 2 without any sort of penalty, but is it legal to purposely compete two different routines? Silly question, I know, but I can't help but wonder.

I dont see why it would be illegal, but I certainly dont think it is smart unless your team is absolutely beast. Some teams dedicate all their time to a single routine and still have a hard time hitting it. Imagine cutting your practice into two parts, each working on a different routine. I cant imagine you would get alot done in either routine.

The only time I've seen huge changes are:
1) Day 1 stunt/tumbling/etc is illegal, given a warning
2) Scored low in a certain area & changing with regards to judge's feedback

Hypothetically, sure you can compete 2 different routines. Logically, it would be a huge risk to do so because of possible illegalities and not knowing how this routine would score in comparison to Day 1 & your competitors.
