College Alternates

Do the alternates (cheerleaders or dancers who are not on the Nationals team) get to travel with their teammates to Orlando or Daytona Beach even though they don't get to compete? I know that Kentucky does.

They get to at Blinn College also.

I would assume in all schools that would be a yes. If someone gets to Daytona and falls down and breaks their leg, the alternate wouldn't be doing anyone any good back home in Kalamazoo

I know at SFA we bring all of our alternates. But some schools dont, for instance i believe Sam Houston only brings two alternates to nationals.

Sadly no =( the new spirit coordinator changed the rules where no one but competitors can stay in the rooms this year and they are flying to UCA so anyone who wants to go has to find their own ride and own place and pay for everything out our own pockets. It kind of stinks, i was looking forward to going this year.

Our girls/guys who are not on the nationals team get to choose if they want to go. However, I think they have to pay their way. I know we will have at least a few extras just in case.
