Maggie Nichols, Madison Kocian, and Mykayla Skinner all won the all-around in their respective debut NCAA meets. Kyla did not compete AA, but she looked great as well. What a time for collegiate gymnastics!

Skinner was never my fave but she looks significantly happier and more relaxed. A positive team environment suits her.

Also, Ragan Smith and Eythora Thorsdottir were named to the provisional 2017 American Cup roster. 2nd American hasn't been named yet. I'm on my phone, but USA Gym sent a release with the men and women's rosters

Haha... it dates back to earlier in the decade, it's no longer a "scam", but gymternet still refers to the competition as that.

I'd rather not divulge since most people on the board are U.S. citizens, but you can google "American Cup Scam" and you should see a bunch of articles. Or better yet, do a Tumblr search of the same phrase, you'll see more detailed and thorough explanations by very well-known gymternet bloggers.

Do tell. What's wrong with the American Cup?

Nothing is really wrong with it IMO... American gymnasts almost always win so some people think the results are fixed ahead of time or that the judges are biased towards the Americans. But it's the only FIG World Cup event held in the US, it's held very early in the year so gymnasts aren't as prepared as they normally are, and the US always sends its top gymnasts to compete so it's not really surprising that the Americans win? Also American gymnasts have won 11/13 of the past World/Olympic All Around Titles so I like to think that they would win regardless of where the competiton is held lol

It's not surprising that the men side have more competition then the women. Not trying to throw shade but they haven't done great since the Hamm twins days.
People say this about every country they compete in. Lets not forget 2008 Olympics where a lot of people thought the Chinese were scored higher than they deserved.

It's called scam since 2011 when Mustafina was competing and was leading after 3rd rotation by one point. She had a fall on floor. And somehow Wieber with not so good floor routine beat her. Since than it'scalled scam. I agree with all the US winners because every year they were by far the best but still can't understand how Jordyn won in 2011.
