full grown adults obsessing over teenagers or young adults is even worse, in my opinion.IDK I think this person comes across as pretty well-informed. I didn’t get “teen” vibes. She did mention something about a “school year” but I get the impression she’s a parent or a teacher rather than a kid condemning an athlete who disappointed them. We’ve all seen Cheer Confessions… I think if a teen wrote that it’d go something like: “MYKAYLA SKINNER is an OVERRATED RACIST COVIDIOT BULLY. And that would literally be it.
So yeah, I don’t get “kid” impressions from that post. The COVID part seems a little incendiary, but I understand that the issue is polarising for people. I was fortunate enough not to lose anyone to COVID this past year, but if I had I’d be pretty angry at those I viewed as responsible for the spread.
I do agree that well-known personalities of all kinds are often held to impossible standards and crucified on social media for the slightest digression, and that that’s not healthy or helpful.
However.
I have a real hard time overlooking the use of slurs. This particular case is no exception. The fact that she posted it publicly only further confirms to me that this kid has some real character flaws.
Exactly. Like the US Men took exactly what they needed in the chance that Covid wiped out the whole team. 4 all arounders and a specialist. Leaving a spot open on the women's side when you could have plugged a specialist (RILEY) in there is pretty silly.I just cannot understand why you wouldn't send an alternate and leave a spot open. Like, does it cost them too much money or what? It's just mind boggling.

I'm usually awake around 5, so I should be able to catch it live. I hadn't looked up the start time yet, so thanks!Team USA qualifying starts at 445am on a Sunday morning :( I guess I'll have to catch the replay.
One of the alternates tested positive. Tell me again why we went without a full roster?
Just oh my goodness… the gymternet drama this whole situation unleashed.
Al Fong confirmed that it was Kara Eaker who tested positive. She is now in isolation, as is Leanne Wong (as a precaution since they were roommates).
From the articles I've read, sounds like the alternates and the team have been kept separate. However, if the 3 alternates go down, and something happens to the core 4, then we go with 3. The individuals cannot be bumped up to the team.the article I read said there was a third athlete on “standby” as a potential close contact. Unlike their clarity in saying the person testing positive was an alternate, that distinction wasn’t there. Logic tells me it would be Kayla dicello since I don’t think the alternates had been with the rest of the team, and I’ve seen photos of the other six today in the OV, but any other thoughts/clarification on that?
If all three alternates end up quarantined and something happens, can one of the two individuals be bumped into all around?
I fear you may have spoke too soon. So many athletes already unable to compete. With Tokyo being so against hosting in the first place, I am fearful we won't see the finish of this Olympic games. I can not even imagine being an athlete, having made it all the way to the games and then having a very real possibility of not being able to compete. We’ve FINALLY made it, this has been a long-*ss quad (that turned into a quint). It’s hard to believe that Montreal 2017 was part of this Olympic cycle, felt way longer.
