On Day 1 at NCA the first team out in CP's division had a girl bust on her tumbling, drag herself off the floor, lay there crying. Meanwhile I'm waiting for the music to stop, but it didn't. A coach or trainer or someone came over to talk to her, took her off to the side. The routine is going on, she seemed to be a base, because they marked one stunt and then just in time for the pyramid, the girl comes running back in and finishes the routine.

I have never seen that happen before...someone "injured" and not have the music stop. and someone leave and then come back! What is the protocol for that? And i have to wonder do judges give them an OOB deduction? can you return after leaving? thought it was so strange.

I'm no expert, but i totally thought you would stop the music. Then again i do remember this year WCSS routine at a UCA (Correct me if i'm wrong) comp continuing after the last tumbler hurt herself... Ask ACEDAD i'm sure he'll know!

Perhaps the coach has to give the decision to cut the music? Or does the company make those decisions?

Good question. I don't know. I've never seen it not be stopped. I've never seen someone run back on, either....lol.

I'm pretty sure the coach has to make the decision because I saw someone get hurt this weekend and the coach stopped the music then ran on the floor to help the girl

At Cheersport there is a sheet of paper with instructions for stopping the music. There has to be a coach at the music table and its up to their discretion to stop the music in the event of an injury or error with music. Pretty sure the judges can't make that call

Twice this season I've had to stop for an injury or music problem. With the music issue they finished with counts and still got to go back and do the routine from where the music messed up...same with the injury

I have no idea what NCA does

ok so why didnt the coach stop the music for the injured child, that's made me nervous, i would hope my coach would stop the music if i got injured and to make sure i was ok?!

I know that at NCA College nationals the coach has to stop the music and if they do they don't get to continue (HPU 2010). Now I know that in Dallas you can go back out (or atleast I think you can) but the coach probably has to stop the music.

I dont' know the answer, but will post if I find out.

Also I think it was encore wcss continued on when someone got hurt in tumbiling also

I saw this happen at Cheerpros in Long Beach. A girl got hurt, her teammates dragged her to the back and continued. Cheerpros staff came and picked her up from the back but the routine carried on. I thought it was the strangest thing!

two years ago on prodigy a girl tore her ACL during the routine and the coach had to run up onto the floor, pick her up then carry her off and they still did not stop the music. one of the other coaches had to yell for the sound guy to turn it off. I've never seen someone run back on though

At NCA events (AS and College) the Head Judge and Safety Judges can stop a routine. I don't know if coaches can, but I've never seen a coach do it at events/halls I've been in.

Sometime stopping a routine takes more time than desired because even though the HJ and SJs can stop the routine they have to tell the announcer to do it. The announcer often has a headset to communicate with other event official and can't always hear us, plus if they are using a wireless mic it can take 5 seconds to be usable.

I highly doubt this happend, but maybe the coach was really worried if another athlete was going to hit her tumling or whatever was going on durring the time when the girl ran off and did not notice her run off? i doubt that but you never know. That is really strange they did not stop the music
