Hi everyone!

Just wondering if someone could explain the grip the back spot uses when doing all-girl style rewinds. I know both main and side basing, but am unsure of the back spot. Also, any tips to make rewinds easier or any tips to give the flyer? I posted this in the College cheer section originally but I haven't gotten a response and I am pressed for time. So if anyone can help in here that would be helpful too!

I usually grab the waist with both thumbs facing towards each other (hope you know what i'm trying to say )
, i always make sure i grab the waist before the bases put their hands on the Flyers back so i've got a good hold of her.
Then just push her straight all the way up and flick her at the top( the flick is very important as it gives some extra height). The flyer needs to make sure to go straight up and not back and tuck a lot ( if she is too open at her tuck its way more difficult)

i hope this helps a little

I teach and do these a little different. I tell the backs not to grab the flyer. just put both of your palms on her lower back. If you are lifting her up and throwing her from the hips, there is less to hold on to then if you are doing it from the small of the back.

With your palms on her back, you have a lot more to throw and will have an easier time getting her directly over you.

As for the flyer, she needs to reach back before the flip. She will feel like she is going to go over the bases. One of my coaches always said to the flyers "think thumbs in the butt"

We've been taught the same way as @imrichhowboutu described. Back gets really low behind the flyer and palms on the broadest part of her hips/small of her back. Try getting the whole group to think jump, bump, pull/flick. Sometimes we get too excited/stressed, everyone tries to do their part at the same time and it's a hot mess all over the floor. Once you get the timing perfected, they're easy … or so I've been told lol! I'm still waiting for the magic to happen.

THIS! Flat palms on the lower back between the hips (b/c that's where the center of gravity is).

Thank you! This is definitely what I will use for my team!

Also, the sides should be guiding the flyer over the back spot before it flips.
