One thing we would have to do is "reboot" parents and athletes expectations of the venue. Stages, fancy lighting, free giveaways all cost money. Put emphasis on the quality of teams, competition, judging, etc. Start small and go from there. Rebuild it the right way.

This is what I have found a lot of people have an issue with. Conversations between my "muggle" friends and me go something like this:
Me: Sorry, I can't go to X, I've got Nationals that weekend
Muggle: Oh, cool, when did you qualify for that?
Me: Well, erm, we actually didn't have to
Muggle: :confused: So how is it Nationals then?

I just shimmied you for the pure fact that you called your non cheer friends muggles!

I personally agree with you on this. But having worked for a smaller EP I have seen differently.

Pre NACCC we had a phase in which each event producer had it's own set of rules. The coaches didn't like it, formed the NACCC, and asked the EPs to standardize some things, rules and division being included. If a gym or EP isn't a USASF member there isn't much, if anything, the USASF could do about a different set of rules being used. I'd guess the thing that holds the system together is consistency.

I know it was all over the boards when it happened but I couldn't fathom finding all the right threads and hours reading to do the research (to probably be wrong anyway)...

...but wasn't there a pretty big lament of the new tumbling rules by the coaches? I cant remember if it was what the rules outlawed, the backdoor super secret way they were passed or both...

but, I wonder how many coaches not in favor of the death of the double double are involved in this.

That's pure speculation and total wishful thinking but if you're gonna dream big (as a spectator) ill dream about THAT! What a spectacle THAT would be with this lineup?!
