Atlanta is smart... Plane tickets to ATL are cheap because it's a hub, there is plenty to do, and plenty of room. It makes way more sense than Philly to me.

False. PCM has gone twice, CF Diamondz have gone a couple of times, Victory Cheer and Fierce (both from Cali) have gone too.
The hotel in Hotlanta is usually more expensive than flights to be honest.

But this venue is the one close to the airport not the GWCC where Cheersport is so no downtown hotel prices.
