Hi all, I am currently a coach for a very competitive rec team. We have been very successful that last few seasons. I am contemplating changing over and begin coaching all stars. I love coaching and love competition. I don't like coaching sidelines... Which is a requirement for my girls. My team competes local then UCA regionals and have been to UCA high school Nationals 3 times( the team is only 3 seasons old). I am familiar with hs and Rec cheer coaching wise.. However I really love what all star cheer brings. I am wondering what the pros and cons are if I switch and find a gym to coach at? I also would need credentials I assume? Can some of you all in the all star world help me out?? I do have a gym in mind.. Nothing huge or famous.. But they are doing very well. Thoughts??? Thanks!

There is no off season. That probably qualifies as both a pro and a con
No sidelines is a pro
Teams based on skill and age is a pro
Much more travel can be seen as both

Technically, you only need to be credentialed to coach at Worlds. If you want to be credentialed, you do not need a gym owner to sign off for levels 1 and 2. Beyond that, you need a gym owner to sign off on your experience for levels 3 and up.

If you have a gym that you are interested in, reach out to them and see if they are looking to add staff for next season. The current season is coming to a close in about a month, so now would be the time most are looking.
