It's a start, but I'm not sure there is enough monetary pain or any regulation to rectify the problem as Varsity hasn't given up any control over the apparel or event production to allow for meaningful competition in the market
I'm not sure I would call it a start only because this is very typical of these types of lawsuits, where the results rarely impact the masses. Law teams, and a few individuals will reap the rewards of that $43 million and then it will be business as usual. This settlement deal hasn't been approved by the courts yet, but Varsity is proposing a settlement reiterating no wrong doing. "It's in the best interest of moving on." This is what happens with most of these lawsuits, and the irony, we all know the consumer ends up paying for it in the end.
