Need some feedback. Do you guys think that many cheer teams are lacking the basic cheer fundamentals with motions and jumps? Many teams seem to have loose motions and jumps that lack flexibility, height and more. Send me some detailed feedback of what you think please.

I think good instruction is become harder & harder to find these days. Unless you have a "big name gym" in your area you have to " hunt" & keep "hunting" for years to find a good program your happy with.

Yes, I agree with you. The proper way to execute cheer motions and jumps should be reiterated at the beginning of every season, if not at every practice. Coaches should always point out sloppiness so the cheerleaders are conscious of it.

After our Parent meeting, the coaches had specified that based on scoresheets and judges comments from prior competitions more emphasis would be placed on fundamentals - motions and jumps, specifically, jumps... I noticed at my daughter's practices they are doing more intensive leg stretching and arm exercises so the team are executing higher jumps, with pointed toes and many of the girls are already showing hyper-extended jumps just from these exercises...
So to answer your question, Yes, I think many cheer teams lacked basic cheer fundamentals with motions and jumps, but many cheer teams are using the Summer months to address those areas in most gyms... I think last season, many of the judges had scored harshly in those specific areas, so the gyms are going back to the basics, if they are smart and listening...
