Hey Y'all, So for one of my classes I am doing a report on "cheer-lebrities" and their fans and much more, so I wanted to ask if y'all could post who your favorite "cheer-lebrity" is and why they could be new or old I just need the data. Thank you all so much in advance!

@Nikaaa is right. Your best bet is to use the search function and read previous posts with similar questions.

**I saw it on the internet so it must be true**

I don't think this is the best place to ask this...
I didn't mean to try to start any drama or anything of that sort, this is purely research and I'm curious as to why people are fans and so on. Thanks for the heads up though.

Awww, I'll go put the popcorn away.
You are my favorite newbie LOL!

Don't feel bad! It just that new users have a tendency to start threads about cheerlebrities and well... the topic has been done to death. I recommend busting out some popcorn when going through old threads on this topic. :P

Most people on this board aren't exactly fans of the word cheer-lebrity. I don't know if you'll find much luck. Most on here hope that its a trend that goes away.

I'm confused as to how a topic based on cheerleaders who have lots of Instagram followers and can tease their hair is going to formulate a good paper. If you want to go on advertising on Instagram, I can see it and how it manipulates kids into advertising for companies that have nothing to do with the cheerleader. If you want to keep it about cheerleading, look into the concussion rate and discuss what we can do to lower our concussion rate. I've even gone so far as to write a paper on the anatomy of the femur and why females are more likely to injury their knee (all about the angles!)

If you want to write a paper about cheerleading, dig deep into it. Don't go for superficial. You'll get more out of it in the long run.

It's actually not a paper its a presentation for my Fan Culture class, which focuses on studying fandoms in the media, sports, music. So the basis was to study WHY people follow these cheerleaders and how cheer companies use these cheerleaders to market their own brands. I am aware that talking about the injuries faced in cheerleading is a great topic, but it has nothing to do with the class that I'm taking. Thanks.

That sounds really interesting!

Why didn't you say so from the start?

I would say 9/10 people follow cheerlebrities because they admire something about them. Could be looks, could be skills, could be just the uniform they wear; you never know. I don't think you're going to get the data you need from us. You might be able to get some help from a Twitter poll, but you won't be able to know both who everyone's favorite is, or why they follow cheerlebrities just from one poll.

I've been around long enough to know there are hundreds of academic papers waiting to be written about our sport, which is why I gave three examples. I'm sorry they weren't useful to what your class is. What major are you that Fan Culture is a course? I'm in radiography (medical imaging) so I never took anything like that.

I've never heard of a fan culture course, but could easily see it making sense as a course for film, marketing, advertising majors, etc. Why someone idolizes something is important to know how to sell future things and hit the target audience. I can see a lot of creative careers and majors where a study of that nature could be beneficial.

Sociology is another major I think a course like this would fit in.
