I really want know why CheerGyms.com is their name... for the longest time i thought it was the website they ordered their music from, or a website that wanted publicity.. nope, i was wrong, that is indeed their actual gym name... Im almost positive there is a thread on this topic already out there, so if yall could forward me to it... or if yall want to explain it to me on here, that would be even better:)
--why would they pick such a generic name... and then put ".com" after it???

i've always wondered the same thing... especially the first time i saw them at Worlds 2008 I was so confused. It said CHEERGYMS.COM too many times in their music that year too.

Well, of course, because when you have multiple affiliated gyms, an actual gym name, like FAME or ACE, just doesn't have the same ring to it...

I don't know when they opened, but over 10-15 years ago being a .com business was a big deal because of a boom in .com companies...especially in some parts of northern califOrnia. I have no idea if this is why they have it in their name, but I bet it is.

My first year of cheer, I was watching illusions (?) practice at a Sacramento Americas best and I was like, whaaaat.Because they said cheer gyms.com in their cheer.
Also, I can never remember all the old gym names :
Pyramids
Motions
Illusions
Focus
And there's one more and I always called them cornucopia team because I couldn't remember what their actual name was.

Because they'd sound silly if it were just called "Cheer Gyms". It's 2012.. the world loves technology. It's a fun name!

The name probably was thought up in the first .com bubble. The gym was successful (unlike the rest of the .com bubble) and has stuck around.

Back in the 90's during the .com bubble people got paid ridiculous amounts of money for web based ideas that didn't work. I think just ebay and amazon are the only two that survived that whole business.

To this day that routine is one of my favorites... but than again I actualy like some of the CS and SO Tyler uniforms... so I guess I just like unconventional ;)

I'll have to find the video and post it. They used to have voiceovers "introducing" kids on their team, and they'd do a sashay, or a tumbling pass or a stunt during it. Probably the funniest/greatest thing ever.
