I'm cross posting this because I know not everyone is in the coaches section if this isn't allowed let me know and I'll delete one of them.

This is my first time in charge of uniforms in a decade. Do you solicit designs and prices from multiple companies and then pick the best of the bunch or do you pick the company first and then just stick with what they can offer?

My predecessor only used Varsity and just worked off of the few sketches the rep provided. Once she ordered sublimated uni's from another company but besides that always Varsity.

I would like to see what a few places can offer but is it rude to discuss design options and price and then go with another company? Just using their catalogs isn't the best because I like a piece off of one and a skirt from another etc.

I'm getting tons of messages from reps since I made catalog requests so I want to know how to precede.

I have done uniforms for school, but not Allstars. We have one set vendor (Varsity) we had to use. We always chose from the catalog rather than doing custom to keep costs down, but if I had carte Blanche to do what I wanted I would look at catalogs, and at uniforms for other squads you know the companies you are interested in had done, and the shortlist 2-3 to get sample designs from. You probably need to move VERY quickly though, if you want a finished product before Christmas.

You are so right about needing to do it in a hurry, I might haul my butt to the design it yourself thread and beg for help/mercy. Unfortunately I just recently took over the program so now I'm playing catch up (with everything it seems).

A stock design with limited customization will be a faster turn around time. If you can find one you like, that might be the way to go.

If you find some stock designs that you like, I can mock them up for you so you can see them in your colors if you want! :) I agree with @cheer25mom though, a stock design will be a much faster process.

@cpersichilli that would be so nice of you! Here is one:
Varsity Spirit Fashion

I like A but would do the word Tigers instead of a mascot head

Our colors are Orange Black and White

I like these too but with modifications which would make them custom:

A: but without the shoulder cut out and the stars. Black as the primary and orange for the sleeve and and main stripe/skirt accent and white for the smaller stripes I could live with the shoulder cut out if I had to but not the stars as they have nothing to do with our program.
page 73
B: but full top and with a skirt not shorts

Oh didn't think about that @yooolizzi good point and we will have Juniors in these in addition to younger athletes. I love the look of white uni's but because of our mini's I nixed the idea after seeing them crawling around at comps in the past. hehe Never thought about the big girls and sweating issues.

The second one is my fave. Enough detail to be interesting, but no crazy cutouts ect. Judicious use of mystic and bling will make it have an "all star" feel. Really, they all are super designs, but I agree about white underarms.

My school used to have the second one. It was annoying when the skirt would move and then the lines wouldn't match up. Just something to think about!

I am a Senior Account Manager with GK Elite. To answer your questions, no it is not rude at all to go and work with multiple vendors. I think from the uniform side all any of us vendors would ask if to be upfront about what your looking for and that your talking to multiple vendors, and always remain honest.

If you would like some help, we have an amazing design team at GK. If your looking for High School Uniforms, we also offer Under Armour Uniforms and they have become quite popular for High Schools. Let me know what state and area you are in and I can direct you to one of our Account Managers to help you out!
