Last year I went to a competition to support my niece 9 months pregnant. I know it wasn't my smartest move and wouldnt have done it but it was a small local comp so I figured NBD.
I get there and its bleacher seating and the only available seats are at the tippy top. So I position myself at the very last seat at the end of the vip section so I can get up easily when needed but wouldn't take the risk of falling down the bleachers, and would of course get up for any families that may have needed that seat.
The vip section is empty with the exception of 4 moms sitting in the front row. I feel a tap on my shoulder. When I turn around this women says to me, this is the VIP you shouldn't be sitting there. I look around at the empty seats then my enormous belly and said, did you need my seat? Or did you want one of the 40 empty ones around me?
The women didnt even work there, she just wanted to be a jerk.

I have been to many competitions and seen some crazy stuff.

Care to share yours?

Hunger Games run to seats every year at Worlds
This past year was my first year at worlds, and me and my mom got up super early and waited at the gates. I'd never experienced anything like that haha. And based on your avatar I'm pretty sure I recognize you, I think I saw you waiting too lol

Nothing beats the seat fights between moms at competitions. And I've never understood why...unless it Worlds there is always plenty of seating.

Ill never get over how the announcer at worlds tried to get people to leave their seats and go outside and watch awards.
EXACTLY....I said the same thing. Poor planning on their behalf so I should get out of my seat to let others who show up at 2pm in the door when our team has not even hit the floor yet? I think not. Be prepared, this year is going to be interesting based on all of the issues last year.
At Comps tensions are high, tempers are short, good seating is not always available, people can (and will) be ignorant and inconsiderate so there is all the fuel you need for an argument.

We watched the livestream from home and were purely amazed when we first heard them announce that. My friends were there just as spectators and we texted the whole weekend and laughed about it, but they did not even want to get up to go to the bathroom at any point without making sure their seats were safely "protected". I cannot even imagine how they are going to handle it this year. I do foresee people lined up at 2-3am to make sure they get in on Sunday but I cannot fathom how they plan to clear out the Field House (how my fingers still wish to type Milk not Field) and let the next session in on Monday without huge delays.
