Hi, I’m a 17 year old junior in hs. I’ve been doing school cheer since 6th grade and competitive cheer since 9th. I didn’t recently start locking in on my tumbling until about five months ago, and I started from pretty much scratch. I learned a backwalkover, and I have it and can throw it at the gym! I’m now working on handsprings. I really am proud overall at myself, especially being older and starting lower, but sometimes I get at home and just can’t throw a walkover, and I literally wanna cry. I know i can do it, I have video proof. It just discourages me so much because sometimes I wonder if this is even worth it. I wanna do all star cheer and even cheer in college, but I’m discouraged and don’t think I’m good enough tumbling wise. I guess I’m just looking for any tips or similar experiences/stories that can make me feel less bad. Thank you all

If the frustration is mostly with the back walkover, it might help to take a break from that skill and focus on your back handspring for a while. Back walkovers aren’t used much in college cheer anyway.

Also remember that progress in tumbling isn’t always consistent. Some days skills just feel harder even when you know you can do them. Since you already have video proof, the ability is there.
