College Freshman advice?

I'm going to be a freshman in college next year and I was just wondering if anyone had any advice. It can be cheer related or not, just anything that you think could help me out. Thanks :)

Manage your time efficiently! I know I had a hard time as a freshman with time first semester because its all your responsibility now. Classes aren't everyday, you have more homework, you'll have practice with fundraisers and games on top of wanting a social life and maybe joining a club. I always recommend trying to join one to make friends outside of cheer and a room mate. It's a lot to handle but get a planner, write things down, stick with it and give yourself time to get things done without stressing and while having some fun.

I saw a friend post this on Facebook and I thought it was pretty funny and relevant.
I agree with #13. I usually waited to do my wash until I was either a) out of underwear or b) out of t-shirts to wear to practice.

#14...please don't be that person! There are people at my school that I've seen around campus and they are know to my friends and I as "that annoying girl from the Facebook group"...

I heard this piece of advice probably a hundred times before I actually listened to it and followed it.

There will be another "epic" party or "awesome" night out with friends to repeat but you can't repeat studying for a test or working on a paper/project. Get your school work done then go have fun.

Plus just generally don't procrastinate. The amount of nights I've spent tearing my hair out over an essay 12 hours to the deadline is outrageous. Save yourself the stress, get your work done (or at least researched/started) well in advance of the deadline and enjoy yourself afterwards.

Also reward yourself when you're writing/studying. Want cake? Read 10 more pages and then go wild.

What everyone else is saying: time management!!!
Procrastinating is much more harder in college and you probably won't put out the quality work your professors are expecting. I try to start essays or projects or whatever the day they are assigned. If its just an essay or something small I try to get it done in one sitting but if its something big, plan it out!!! Devote a certain day or time to working on it. It will suck at first but you'll love the feeling of getting it done days in advance and having free time to relax when everyone else freaks out trying to get it done last minute.

Also make sure you enjoy yourself! Get involved in everything you possibly can and try something different. Sign up for all the clubs/societies which sound interesting at the Fresher's Fair (or whatever the American equivalent is called!) and once you've had time to try everything make a decision about what you want to keep on with. It'll help you settle and find friends too:)

My biggest piece of advice: Make new friends! Don't rely on just high school friends and only hang out with them. Make as many new friends as possible, because they, for the most part, are the ones that will be your best friends for life.

I agree with the above info. In addition, go to class. It's amazing how much just showing up will help.

That's the way to go! My freshmen year I roomed with my best friend from high school-we got along great but I never branched out and met new people, which in the end made me miserable. I transferred to Clemson without knowing ANYONE and was forced to make all new friends-and those people are my best friends up until this day! You will have a blast!
