I was a freshman in high school. I asked all my friends if I should do cheer and the votes were unanimous. (I was always kinda interested. I used to do round off janky, crooked back handsprings for fun) so I went back home to watch cheer videos. Came across Top Gun 2010 and Senior Elite 2010... I fell in love.
I went to a local all-star gym for private lessons and tried to learn as much tumbling as I could before my high school try-outs. I made the team as an alternate -_-
So naturally I dropped that and went back to be on that all-star gym's junior 3 team. That next year I was on a worlds level 5. Been addicted since.
Side note: I did all of this without financial support from my parents. Just a couple pennies in my pocket and a lot of passion.
I know almost every guy and even some girls can relate to that.
That's why I placed such a huge emphasis on progressing my skills quickly, considering that some gym owners will turn a blind eye to the costs if you're twisting twice. Otherwise, I would've never had so many amazing experiences.
